Hunter has not lived up to the hype at all. I am shocked that he doesn't get criticized more on the Rant. People bow down to him because of the veins popping out to his arms. He has shown us nothing yet. He is currently just a gym rat and a workout warrior. He needs to be criticized a lot more. Maybe he will start playing with a chip on his shoulder.

He was LOST last night. Rushed too far up field on passes, blew his outside containment several times, and he was just downright dominated on a couple of those big runs. I would give him a mulligan if he were younger, but this is his third year. No excuses.

Perhaps he needs to spend less time in the gym and more time on the practice field working on fundamentals.

Maybe Wisconsin having a pretty good OL had a little something to do with it?

I agree....

His issues are seeing the play unfold and dissecting it. He gets turned around a good bit and bites on fakes too easy. That TD Wisky had on that reverse, Hunter had no idea where the ball was going and it went right across his face But, when he does see it clearly he goes and makes the play and looks like nobody can stop him.

He beat his man and got into the backfield 4-5 times last night. They never ran the ball to his side and when they did, it was a minimal gain. I really don't know why you frick shits are saying we didn't get pressure last night. It's like most of you don't watch the game and just look at the box score.

Name a game where Danielle Hunter was a difference maker or stood out. The guy has never lived up to the hype he gets on this board, which all stems from what he LOOKS like. I hope he gets it together, but right now, he has been pedestrian.

I'm not naïve. I realize he is not going to win every battle, but if you know football, you could clearly see last night that he was putting himself in position to be dominated and look a fool. There is NO EXCUSE for a 3rd year player doing that. It doesn't matter how good WN was.

Name one thing he did last night...

I rest my case. Now think of all the bad things he did last night? At least 4 or 5 plays come to my mind immediately.

Nitpicking children. Hunter was involved in a lot of tackles. It's only the first game of the season, rantards.

Apparently not. Did you see a single big run to the left, other than the fly sweep? Hunter got by their LT about 5 times last night. You need to rewatch the game. Just because we didn't have any sacks, doesn't mean we didn't get consistent pressure. They're QB never had any time to throw.

"SOPHOMORE SEASON (2013)
Played in all 13 games with 10 starts ... Broke into the starting lineup in week 4 against Auburn and never relinquished role ... In first start, had career-best eight tackles and a quarterback hurry in 35-21 win over eventual national runner-up Auburn ... Opened season with four tackles and 1.5 tackles for 6-yards in losses during TCU victory ... Had outstanding all-around game in win over Florida with seven tackles, one tackle for loss and two pass breakups ... Had six tackles apiece against Ole Miss and Furman ... Closed year with four tackles, including a sack for a 4-yard loss, during win over Iowa in Outback Bowl ... Had 1.5 tackles and three total tackles in regular-season finale vs. Arkansas ... Finished year with 57 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss (32 yards) and 3.0 sacks (20 yards) ... Added five quarterback hurries and a pair of pass breakups."

There is potential here.

I think everybody expected too much out of him; he wasn't great, wasn't too terrible. He'll get better as the season progresses.

Wow. Some of you have no idea what the hell you are talking about. Seriously? It sounds like YOU need to re-watch the game. NOT me. You should probably learn a little more about football too.

DT and DE are extraordinarily linked. Our DT's are currently weak. This means the DE's job is harder. We need Herron and Valentine, and add in Bain. That would change everything.

He's a freak but can easily be taken out of the picture with a good game plan.

He relies too much on his speed and athleticism. Also appears to be going for the home run, instead of reading the play to make a positive impact.
