A change is going to come

When President Barack Obama said earlier this year that he does not think marijuana is more dangerous than alcohol, his words resonated with NFL players.

As part of a survey of 100-plus players conducted by ESPN.com's NFL Nation, 75 percent of the 82 players who answered said they agree with Obama's statement, which he made during an interview in January with The New Yorker

man, it is practically legal right now in the league as it is, I say NFL gets progressive and legalizr it for medical and recreational use by the players..
and not one damn thing will change

The NFL is pretty weed friendly as it is, right?
The NCAA is who needs the change IMO.

The NFL players are. The league itself, not so much.

why is he even talking about this...aren't there bigger problems and situations to deal with?

equally "dangerous", driving while intoxicated is dangerous. Lung cancer is dangerous. Liver damage is dangerous.
harmless to others and should be legal, and not dangerous if consumed responsibly by responsible people
and what I think really needs to be said because the NFL and NBA seem to think everything is worse than violence is
"violence is worse than marijuana/coarse language/unpopular opinions/"
however, josh Gordon has cost himself millions of dollars because he just can't not smoke marijuana...I could do stop doing anything except for breathing for that kind of money...the players want it changed, good...but in the meantime you're a retard if you continue to smoke when it could cost you millions

this is why roger goodell's player conduct policy is such a failure
you start punishing people with you as judge, jury and executioner and then it creates problems for league policies that are not so vague
Christ, and all to get his name out there...pacman would have to shoot up a lot of strip clubs before it damaged "the shield"
I would argue that through a trickle down effect, the pacers/pistons brawl is the most significant sports moment in 30 years

Josh Gordon just called, he said "Are you fricking serious?"

Agreed, should be legal but isn't and if I had that much money on the line I would definitely stay smoke free no matter how much I liked it. I was saying the same thing about Ricky Williams.

I think you have that confused with domestic violence. The league is pro-domestic abuse. Anti-marijuana.

The war on marijuana and our prison system stocked full of non violent offenders is a pretty big problem. Not to mention the 30 billion a year this country wastes on the war on drugs. That doesn't count aid we give to other countries to fight the war in their country.

yeah, there is literally nothing he can do about that, and even if he could, states would still decide...so this one is pretty low on the presidential priority list.

He can't do a lot on his own.
your opinion and mine are different.

Legalization of Marijuana doesn't change much about the employer-employee relationship when it comes to the ingestion of "drugs."
It is going to be treated the same as alcohol. Ie, you can do it on your own time in the offseason or so many hours before your "shift"/game, but if they test you after a game and find out you had it in your system, you're still going to get fined/suspended by the team or league.
It isn't like legalization is going to change much, if anything in the lives of those of us who work for a living.

Pretty much this, although I do agree with their main point

I do believe that. I wish it were legal. I think it should be...I think a stupid policy has ruined a lot more lives than drug addiction
however, I am more concerned with economic crisis, foreign policy crisis, widespread government corruption and abuse (including mr. Obama)
