Likely going to be one more expansion team to make 2 total with Vegas, possibly 4 teams, with Seattle and Quebec City leading the way for the other spot(s).

Sources close to the situation have indicated Las Vegas is a done deal, the only thing to be determined being which owner will be entitled to proclaim that he brought the first major league sports franchise to Sin City.”

I'm skeptical that a 2nd Toronto club would work. Do they just expect fans to just break their allegiances to the Maple Leafs and jump to an expansion franchise?

I'm guessing it will be in Hamilton or some place like that, not Toronto Toronto. Toronto and Hamilton already have CFL teams, so it probably wouldn't be too rough.

It's a big enough sport in that area that I think it would work, and work well. Plenty of cities can support two teams and do, for hockey, Toronto would be the best case for that to happen.

Seattle needs to for sure get a team in this expansion.

Vegas is meh, most seem to think it's a solid addition and will be successful but we'll see.

Quebec City will be massive in terms of support like Winnipeg, no brainer there.

Little surprised Kansas City isn't one of the teams, they've wanted a team in the Sprint Center for so long whether NBA or NHL.

I've wanted one in Seattle since I was a kid.

2 in Toronto could work, it's a huge city. The more Canadian teams the better IMO (for the league)

Some hockey nerd trivia: The Seattle Metropolitans were the first American team to win the Stanley Cup.

Not a big hockey fan but I'll definitely go to a couple of games.

Is the NHL deep enough to support adding four new teams without seeing a drop in quality of play?

I genuinely don't know as I typically only follow during the playoffs.

You'd become a bigger fan than you might think, going to the games is a blast to put it lightly.

Absolutely, the league is seeing an insane amount of star studded young players with plenty more on the way. This is about the perfect time to do it.

no Portland?

the minor league Winter Hawks get tons of support and we have a great arena that is ready for the NHL.

Hockey in Vegas? Seattle doesn't even have an arena ready.

ETA - Unless the NHL thinks Key Arena works. I'd love to have teams in Seattle and Portland to have that rivalry between the two cities.

SoDo Arena was approved last year in Seattle and will be ready for 2017.

Vegas still has a couple arena hurdles to jump. We already have a minor league hockey team that doesn't do very well, I'm kinda skeptical that an NHL team would be supported.

Like what? The arena is already under construction...they broke ground on it back in May.

Vegas is a city of tourists and transplants. There would be more of the other teams fans in attendence as part of a vacation than locals.

Seattle/Hamilton are no brainers to me.

Happy these rumors are about expansion, and not a team moving
