I know his "mentor" was Bo Schembechler, a staunch conservative republican, but something tells me Les Miles has a liberal view of the world. Eating Grass, constant fake special teams plays, etc.

Les is smart, he keeps his politics to himself.

ETA: Saban is probably a Democrat. His best friend, to the extent he has friends, is the Dem governor of WV.

ETA2: Les strikes me as a middle of the road type. Conservative democrat or moderate republican.

Could not care less as long as he wins and represents the university well.

Les transcends politics--kind if like Jesus. Keep his name out of your politard mouth and off this politard board.

Saban is a staunch Democrat. Once again, I could not care less as long as he loses.

He is, nominally. I don't see him as being very politically active, however.

I don't think he's political at all.....those are cards he does and should keep close to his chest.

He represents LSU well, and that's important.

FWIW, He's goofy, not at all pretentious, and his press conferences are entertaining. He is sort of the George W Bush of football coaches in a way. The man is almost never rude or arrogant, and stands up for his players. That's why people like him even if his coaching decisions sometimes drive them crazy.

I think it's really cool that he visited LSU students and alumni deployed to Iraq while things were pretty heated there.

Do you extend this courtesy to everyone, regardless of which University they represent?

What are the odds that Les Miles votes? That's valuable recruiting time.

Saban is a democrat for recruiting purposes- black families will be much more likely to send their son into Saban's arms if they know he is a democrat.

I actually know for an absolute fact he is a registered Independent. The Louisiana Secretary of State voters site can tell you a lot if you know the information to plug in.

Frankly this is one of the few times I have ever even thought about the politics of a college coach. In fact, Saban is the only coach that I have ever known about their political preferences.

To answer your question, yes as long as they are not preaching to me.
