How late in the day is it for this kind of water visibility for redfish?

Cool video I swiped off FB of redfishing in shallow water.

I am usually out there so early. Probably is overcast too, but don't see anything other than gray . Gray gray gray.

With the light here, this is almost like bass fishing in a clear lake.

I had no idea that there was that much crap in the water either?

great link, pectus

i see drones being banned next year for the redfish series and possibly other fishing tournaments, but here is the big question.. should they be banned?

They can be used to identify where fish are like sonar.. so, is there justification in future bans?

just saw that on FB as well. When I go out in my yak I'll stay out there from 6AM to 6PM and the water looks the most like that between 11AM-2PM. That's exactly what it's been looking like in Delacroix lately

IMO it's not a time of day thing. Where are you fishing? Where I fish, it's like that all the time. Sure, you need daylight, but if you're fishing stained water, all the daylight in the world won't help. Capt Devlin fishes clear water.

sounds like machines murdering each other. It's like someone told Michael Bay it was ok for him to produce music

You have to use the time of day to your advantage. In the mornings to about 10 am use the western banks, and the opposite in the evenings, between 10-2 most areas are fair game and sun position is less of a determination of location.
All of this is conditional on finding the right water for sight fishing and there is more out there than most realize.

No offense, but YUCK!

Unless you have a prime spot, it's not worth to deal with those conditions for a fish every 30 mins to an hour.

Also...I didn't take into consideration this was filmed with the camera more perpendicular to the water, so that could add to the visibility. We're more horizontal to the water when we view it from the boat.

I just wouldn't think that kind of water in that time of day would be productive. Everything would be hiding from being seen, the Sun, and you.

Does make a nice setting for fly fishing though.

You should see the tower on the front of my boat and the the ones like mine or taller. My eyes are about 11 feet from the water surface, giving me a eagles view to fish in a 20 yard radius.

I will wait for the sun to get up a bit and have the sun to my back. Obviously decent water is a must. I usually start sightcasting around 8:30am till the sun wears me out. Slight breeze is ok, but if its real windy makes seeing them tougher.

Point Aux Chenes and north of Lake Boudreaux stay that clear a lot. Almost everywhere else in the Terrebonne area seems to get dirty quickly. I used to see tons from my poling platform. Difficulty was putting down the push pole, picking up the rod n reel, and making a cast without making much noise or movement. They can see you as much as you can see them. That casting tower and ipilot is nice setup to have.

One of the coolest videos I've seen. That is freaking heaven right there. Nothing in the world I'd rather do than that (though I can't anymore).

This is true to some extent, you just have to learn to be stealthy in some areas. There are some places, Venice for instance, it's like the fish have no fear of anything, not just redfish, all fish seem to be just fearless or maybe dumb.

I'm not familiar with drone use in fishing. Do they send video back to the person controlling it or does it just record? I guess it must send images back if the controller knows to move the camera around and such.

May I ask, for health, boat, or location reasons?
