There are now photos of a Democrat voter registration tent that has been set up in Ferguson. The death of Michael Brown is being used to register Democrats in Ferguson, Missouri, practically right next to the memorial for the kid.

Is this like the mosque that was "at ground zero"?

Haven't seen the pictures, but somehow I'm not surprised every black person on my fb is going insane over this situation. Apparently minorities should be allowed to commit violent robbery and assault police officers without fear of reprimand.

Don't see the problem with this. One of the apparent issues in the town is the black community doesn't have fair representation in the city's governing body. What better opportunity to educate them on ways to correct that and give them a voice.

Assuming this is true, you don't see the problem with pandering to the emotions of a populace during a perceived crisis to secure votes?

Really?

Nope. I don't have a problem with any group holding voter registration drives in just about any scenario. Having more people vote in this country is a good thing, and if it takes something like this to wake people up, so be it. I read earlier the last local elections in Ferguson only had 9% voter turnout.

Only if the people voting educate themselves on the candidates running for office. Blindly voting for a democrat or republican, a man or a woman, or a black or a white man does nothing to create change.

Yes, this is what we need. More people playing party politics because they've been roped in by their.

Can't argue that. Just because they register at a tent hosted by the Democratic party doesn't necessarily mean they'll vote Democratic the rest of their life. I first registered at a Republican sponsored event and my voting history is all over the place.

Wasn't a huge complaint about Ferguson the fact that the population is overwhelmingly African-American yet the elected leadership is white? If so, this suggests either A) the residents of Ferguson elected the current leadership with candidate quality being the main determining factor and with all of the town's residents equally represented in voter turnout, or B) much of the minority population is un-registered as voters and therefore have had little say in election outcomes. Perhaps if they had voted the outcomes would be the same, but that is not likely given their negative reaction to the racial makeup of their town leadership.

If it's B, increased voter registration is a positive thing and serves to possibly attentuate tensions in the area. Sure, it is a calculating move by the democratic party, but if we're being honest, the majority of the population that would newly register to vote would register as democrats anyway. It's not like the GOP is above such tactics, it would just be a waste of their time.

This isn't surprising one bit.

The Democratic party wants the looters and rioters to think they can fix all of this racism and this unfairness by voting for them.
