Is there any way possible to get the first one out without totally demolishing it? Plus I usually tear up a few others in the process. TIA

Insert fork at angle into middle sausage. Wiggle gently before applying upward force.

1. Turn can upside down over trashcan
2. Let gravity happen
3. Recycle can
4. Eat something less repulsive

That was my 1st thought, but in truth when I was young I ate a lot of Vienna sausage, potted meat, dried shrimp, Slim Jims and other assorted trash meats.

On a dare we used to drop a Slim Jim in a bottle of Coke, let it dissolve, then drink that greasy putrid mess.

not sure what is worse, that coke will dissolve a slim jim or that you would drink it

My old man must have the magic touch. He drains the can and places a plate on top of the opened end. He does a magic trick and a wave of his hand. He places the plate on a table and pulls the can upwards. All sausages remain standing. He then drizzles them w/ BBQ sauce.

Are you kidding me? They are most repulsive on a cold day in the duck blind when all of the juice congeals.

To make them less repulsive, slice in half lengthwise and put atop a saltine topped w a strip of American cheese. Stick in the toaster oven or under the broiler until the cheese browns. Not haute cuisine, but proof that even terrible ingredients taste a little better with care.

I'll tell you one thing...I won't be getting these smoked ones again. They are kind if repulsive. I'm sticking to regular ones from now on.

there may be no single better food item to be enjoyed whilst fishing (especially saltwater) than the humble Vienna Sausage. The fact that they turn green on a hot summer day 30 minutes after opening the can should be of no concern. they may look repulsive, but they are manna to the gods around 11am/noon in the Dularge Eagle Bayou area.

True story, was hunting in the marsh in Leeville years ago and break out some VS, my brother was disgusted. I didn't finish them and threw them by the blind. The next weekend they were still there. He said "not even the coons will eat them"

I used to work with a guy that would microwave Vienna sausages before eating them. I was too busy throwing up to notice how he removed the first one though.

I always rinse them, drain the water. Then stick a knife far into the middle one and pull it out. Then I give them to the dog.
