I had ACL and meniscus surgery on my right knee in 2007. Did something to my left knee a couple years ago. Never got it checked out. Knees hurt when I run. Anyway, I'm looking for a good knee sleeve or brace to run in that's supportive and could limit the pain I get from running. Suggestions?

Get your knee checked out by a doctor.

A knee brace or sleeve isn't going to do anything. In fact, doctors think that they are even worse for your knee because the knee doesn't build strength.

Where on the knee does it hurt, how old are you, how much do you weigh, how long and fast are you running, and how many times a week do you run?

If my knees hurt when I ran, I would just stick to rowing, biking, etc.

But if you are hell bent on running, buy compression tights that go from waist to calf/ankle.

With your surgical history you should probably avoid consistent, log-distance running. You are already at a very high risk of degenerative arthritis. Mix it up with less stressful exercise. Distance running isn't isn't the only exercise.

Not an ortho, but worked for a ortho trauma service. Either only run short distances. 5k and under or just ride a bike. But, get the bike fitted. Like you would with golf clubs. If the bike is fitted properly you can save yourself from much pain. Also, look at the shoes you are running in and get fitted for those as well.
Get a road bike... You don't get the same aerobic training, but you work your legs and burn a ton of cals.

Run in vibrams. My knees never hurt when I run now.

I won't beat a dead horse with what everyone else is saying, but IMO, the best knee brace on the market is by Bauerfeind. Might be a little more than what you're looking for though if you're just running and not doing other sports

Sounds like you're looking forward to that bilateral knee replacement surgery.

Dead serious. Knees used to hurt all the time not just running. made the slow transition and they don't hurt. You just have to run the way we were meant to run and not heal strike...

It's like kneecap area. I have to constantly "pop" my knee ever since I had surgery to clear our scar tissue I'm assuming.

Under knee cap? On top? Lower towards the shin and to the outside or inside?
