CNN - Hillary Clinton pummels Obama foreign policy

(CNN) -- Yes, Hillary Clinton is running for president, and she is running away from President Barack Obama's record on foreign policy.
That's a very clear message from the interview just published in The Atlantic in which she drew sharp distinctions between her view of America's role in the world and those of the President, while also expressing significant disagreements with him over the right approach to ongoing crises in the Middle East.
In a dramatic dismissal of the Obama administration's self-described foreign policy doctrine of "Don't do stupid stuff," Clinton declared, "Great nations need organizing principles and 'Don't do stupid stuff' is not an organizing principle."
Clinton clothed her criticism in respect of her "incredibly intelligent" former boss, but Obama may have clenched his jaw with irritation when he read the polite pummeling from his former secretary of state. Clinton promptly explained that even she didn't think that Obama really meant that is his foreign policy doctrine. (The name Obama used to describe the policy, incidentally, uses a four-letter word instead of "stuff.") She claimed that the catchy phrase was an effort to convey to Americans wary of U.S. misadventures in faraway lands that he was not about to do "something crazy."
Still, Clinton articulated a vision for a much more assertive U.S. role in the world, one that contrasts sharply with Obama's. In doing so, she brandished a lacerating analysis of the administration's foreign policy. Most troubling for Obama was her intimation that some of the most difficult, dangerous and deadly problems raging in the Middle East today might have been avoided if Obama had acted more promptly and less hesitantly.

She has to try to run from that dumpster fire if she wants to be the next president.

the current administrations popularity isn't high enough to do an Al Gore style candidacy. She has to move to a more centered approach. She will distance herself further, I'm sure.

She will never be president.
Obama's Foreign Policy is Hillary Clinton's foreign policy since she was Secretary of State and executed his policy that led to this mess.
If she disagreed with him, she should have resigned in protest. She didn't. She took advantage of it and is now stabbing him in the back.
If she disagreed with him, she should have spoken up and convinced him to change it. She couldn't. If she could not influence her boss and was not a part of SHAPING the foreign policy that she was employed to execute, then why would we think that she can shape anything else or work with others?
I would have respected Hillary if she would have opposed Obama and resigned WHILE she was Secretary of State. Doing this now that everything is clearly falling apart makes her look pathetic.

That is the overall gist of the article. She is tacking towards the center and hoping her left stays firm in support.

Hillary Clinton doesn't realize that her organizing principles are full of stupid stuff. I want to hear her argue why the policies she helped implement for Obama aren't stupid stuff. What did she do to stand on her organized principles when she thought Obama was doing stupid stuff?
"I was following orders", or "I was being a team player" don't cut it for someone seeking to be the President. I want someone with the strength of character to speak out against things with which they disagree.

She can run but she can't hide from Benghazi.

Not if this is the approach she plans on taking. A "more assertive" foreign policy will sink her with her own base. Couple that with her Iraq vote and she's done.
She needs to distance herself from Obama, but this isn't the best way to do it IMHO.

So she's admitting she's a neocon. Cool.

I'm hoping warren runs and Clinton's tacking to the center splits the party and results in some dumbass getting nominated for the Dems

We can all learn something here.
In order to avoid being called a racist when you do this:
or this
you MUST back it up with this unsubstantiated claim:

I agree with all of this, but it also applies to Colin Powell too. Unlike the UK's Robin Cooke who resigned when he was unable to talk some sense into Tony Blair, Powell and Clinton were unwilling to walk away from the trappings of power so they went along for the ride.

Of course she's a neocon. That's why she voted for W's Iraq War in 2002.
EDIT: If Hillary and Paul are the nominees, I expect Paul to hit her over the head with her Iraq War vote as early and as often as Obama did.

There are at least three dumbasses in the running... Warren, Hillary, and Biden.
Possibly more, depending on your opinions of Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer and Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley.

she has always been a neo-con and very hawkish.
smart political move by HRC. FP usually has a small role in presidential elections, it can affect the primaries though. Obama has had mis-step after mis-step in the last few years, HRC trying to frame the issue early is smart politics.
The only thing is she opens herself up to the left, and potentially vulnerable to her base if Rand Paul is GOP nominee. americans are SICK of war, on the left and right.

So the former Secretary of State is denouncing the foreign policy of the President she worked for. Awesome.
