Threatening and actually doing are separate things.
Should've acted sooner but I don't think Americans are in danger, yet.

No one said they stood a chance. They said they threatened it. Doesn't matter whether it is empty or not.
Plus, if they attack the embassy and Marines there do have to act, it will be bad. Because most likely that means there will be some more boots on the ground.

They would have a fight even getting to the green zone. The Iraqi Army in the city has mobilized and the PM personal guard is rolling out as well. Also reports of locals and even women taking up arms.
Not to mention the SF guys throughout the city to call in CAS before they even get close.

I have been saying how great this whole thing is for the US In terms of efficiently dealing with radical Islam. These people are organizing themselves into the type of enemy that we are really good at defeating: nations.
The American public doesn't have the stomach to wage war block by block amongst a civilian population. However, we have no problem with shock and awe against centralized governments.
I say let the IS continue to solidify and wait until they attack us. We will then be totally justified in waging a full scale massacre against their "government."
Or hey, whatever, we could keep sending American kids to die for hearts and minds and to build schools and shite, since that's worked so well.

im not sure the Iraqi army can be trusted after seeing them get their shite pushed in so far. The locals and women probably put up a legit fight though since their lives are on the line.
