Rouse's Just Got A New Customer

I always shop at Winn-Dixie over Rouse's locally, mostly because of the fuel perks rewards. We were invited to the wife's family's lake house today around 9pm last night. I decided we would bring a sandwich tray shortly after accepting the invite and called three local Winn-Dixie's to see about availability of a tray for 11am today. I realized it was short notice and wasn't expecting much.
All three WD's told me they couldn't help me last night and to call back at 7am today when they opened. I did this and could only get someone on the phone at 2 of them between 7 and 8am. Neither of the 2 stores could help me and told me they needed much more notice, 1 said at least 24 hours notice.
I then took a chance and called the Rouse's on Hwy 190 in Covington at 8am. The lady I spoke with was extremely accommodating and told me she could fill my order without a problem. This conversation was much more pleasing than any of the ones I had with WD personnel last night or this morning. I probably spend $800/ month at the local WD's and will take my business to Rouse's from this point forward.

It's better than I expected. I had never been to one until the Tchoupitoulas store opened, and I was pleasantly surprised.

I'm sure it's better over there but our Winn Dixie's are terrible. Rouses is by far the best! As far as gas savings go, if you have a SAMs card, get gas there. Then, you will still be saving on gas and getting good groceries.
Also our rouses has a much better beer selection than Winn Dixie
Basically, rouses is the closest thing I can get to la food over here

How hard is it to buy bread, meat, cheese and spread to make your own sandwich tray?

probly wouldn't have been too hard, if that's what he wanted to do? but, clearly, it wasn't.

There's a reason this thread was put on the food and drink board and not the OT. The reason is simple being that comments like this from blowhards like you were expected there.

I really don't understand how Winn Dixie stays in business. The fuel perks is just a scam to hide their higher prices, their selection is bad, and their stores in general are not that nice. The ONLY redeeming quality is that most of their stores have self check out lanes.

I love the Mandeville Rouse's. I do have to go to the Hywy 21 Winn-Dixie to get my deli products since they are the only ones carrying Boar's Head meats. I don't like Columbus at all. It's a shame because the deli personnel at Rouse's Mandeville are excellent and Winn-Dixie seems to go out of their way to hire mouth breathers.

Rouses on East Approach is better than the one on 190 IMHO. Both are far superior to Winn Dixie though.

In most part, I love Rouse's, but for a couple of things:
1. Don't ever try to pay with a $100 bill. The cashier will never have change. Every time (3) I have tried this the cashier has had to go to the office to get change.
2. They make an awesome baguette in the bakery, but they rarely ever have any out. Almost every time we have to ask the person in the bakery who is making cakes or something if they are back there. They almost always say there should be some out there and come out to look. Then they have to go into the freezer and get one. Never figured out why they never have any out to sell.
