My neighbors moved out at the beginning of the summer and someone just moved in. Well in that time the damn clover has started making its way into my front yard. Its not the normal stuff, looks small and kind of purple.
Can I spray something right now? I know some of that stuff you can't spray when its hot. Id prefer to not let the work I did in the spring when i moved in go to complete shite in my front yard...

If its purple, it's not clover. Its a pain to get rid of. My parents had it.....or still have it.

I'm reaching deep in my head to remember this, but I believe the LSU ag extension office in our area told my parents to use an herbicide called Celsius to get rid of it.

Is this what you've got? LINK If so, cattle love it and it has medicinal value, but it is hard to get rid of once it is established. Some folks call it purple clover, too.

Nah. That's not it. It's like it's an immatured version of clover. I noticed it about 2 wks ago and now it's trying to infiltrate.
I already fertilized for the summer. I do my business at planttec. I'm on their yard "feeding" program.

It may be buttonweed. Fertiloom (sp) makes a product called weed free zone. Mix it 2oz/1gal of water. I sprayed some a week ago and it didn't hurt my lawn but it did the job on the weeds.

More than likely Virginia Buttonweed. It's at its flowing stage now, so you can't really kill it, only suppress it. Early in the spring a Trimec product ( like Weed Free Zone) will do the trick. Now, use Celsius or MSM (metsulfuron) every 4-6 weeks. Read the label to know how to mix... It's different depending on your type of lawn grass

As others have said, it could likely be Virginia Buttonweed. Google it and compare the images.

I get it in my backyard every summer, usually around mid-July. I put Weed N Feed down in back in March, and did another dose about 2 weeks ago. Spray Ortho Weed-Be-Gone directly on the patches and pull them out when the start getting brown.
