Kevin Durant, the reigning MVP told reporters at Team USA's camp in Las Vegas, per Jim Eichenhofer of NBA.com:

quote:

I know how good he's going to be. I know how good he is now, but I know how good he's going to be. He's an MVP-caliber player. So he's next. He's next in line - a guy that has grown so much in just a year. I'm excited to see what he does from here. He's definitely on pace.

Durant concluded: "It's scary. Scary."

...Per Bradford Doolittle of ESPN.com (subscription required), Davis ranks in the top five of his projected breakout candidates for next season:

quote:

Put this one in the category of the truly frightening. Davis' 15.1 WARP last season ranked fifth in the league, and yet SCHOENE sees him getting even better. Davis is entering his age-22 season, so he could still be far from his peak. The system predicts a happy regression in playing time for Davis, who has missed 33 games over his first two seasons. If that happens and New Orleans' addition of Omer Asik aids a surge in Davis' defensive metrics, he could challenge the likes of LeBron James and Kevin Durant for the top WARP figure in the league. Scary stuff.

There's that word again: scary.

Apparently, it doesn't matter if you're an MVP or an analytics maven; Davis' potential frightens everyone.

There's more at the LINK Yeah it's Bleacher Report, but their quality seems to be improving in the last year or so.

AD's Per36:
Rookie -> 2nd year
.516/.000/.751 (.559TS) -> .519/.222/.791 (.582TS)
13.2 fga -> 15.3 fga
4.4 fta -> 6.7 fta
16.9 ppg -> 21.3 ppg
10.2 rpg -> 10.3 rpg
1.2 apg -> 1.6 apg
1.5 spg -> 1.4 spg
2.2 bpg -> 2.9 bpg
1.7 TOV -> 1.7 TOV
10.3 TOV% -> 8.3 TOV%
21.8 USG% -> 25.2 USG%
21.7 PER -> 26.5 PER
113 ortg -> 119 ortg
104 drtg -> 104 drg
6.1 WS -> 10.4 WS

He improved on everything except for steals. He may not become a 15rpg PF, but he could definitely become a 25/12/3 with a combined 4.5-5s/bpg. Hell, this year he combined for 4.1s/bpg

What a drop off....

but 1.4 spg from your PF/C is still pretty solid honestly.

I like how bleacherreport seems to be improving when it's positive talk about an LSU/Saints/Pels player, but if it's negative, then it's, "Well, it's only bleacherreport."

That has nothing to do with it. It's taken awhile to pay off, but Bleacher Report was bought by Turner about 2 years ago, so rather than obnoxious click bait articles by random unpaid posters, we're starting to see real articles by real writers.

This has been the case for a while. But yet people still discredit it when convenient.

Which is why I pointed out they've been better in the past year or so. They have clearly changed since being bought out but most here still react to any link from there as if it's suspect.
