A new "minimum wage fee" tacked on to receipts at a Minnesota restaurant is proving hard for customers to stomach.

Facebook users are bombarding Oasis Café, an eatery in Stillwater, Minnesota, with negative reviews, many vowing to never eat there again, after the owners began adding a 35-cent surcharge below the tax on bills this week.

"If you need to raise prices, so be it," Ryan Stegeman, a University of Minnesota student, wrote in a one-star review hidden by the administrator of the Oasis Café Facebook page. "But to blame it on a fair minimum wage law is petty."

If it was actually based on the minimum wage increase, then it is anything but "petty."

It's childish to let his customers know the direct costs to them of legislation they passed?

You're weird.

Just like thinking that upping the minimum wage is some policy will be effective at accomplishing some worthwhile goal.

When you tell a lib that raising wage expenses may cause businesses to necessarily raise prices, they don't believe you. When it actually happens they act surprised and mad, claiming how unnecessary it is. I bet they want the government to implement price controls to cure this injustice. Modern liberalism truly does block some from reasoning and logical thought. Amazing.

Who the hell can claim to be in favor of raising wages and then be against helping to pay for it? Where do these losers think that money comes from?

Maybe they can, but just don't want to know about it.

In additon to $4.00/gal gasoline and 20% increase in healthcare. Now wait until the cost of heating oil skyrockets.

Where did the money to pay his employees wages come from before?

Considering its literally the only business cost they are itemizing on the bill (other than sales tax I suppose), its about as petty as you can get.

If a restaurant wants to hand me a bill that breaks up the total into EVERY expense they have - I would welcome that. It would be educational and informative. But they - like any reasonable business - probably would prefer it if I didn't know their profit margin. So as long as they are going to obscure some of their books from me - they can keep it all a secret or I'll eat elsewhere. I'm not interested in being handed political propaganda at the end of my meal.
