Corporate red tape takes more of my time than government red tape.
Seriously. Home Depot sold me two sets of 60" length window blinds in a package that said 72" length. You'd think I should be able to to just walk in with my receipt and get a refund for what amounts to a bait and switch, right? Nope. First they said they wouldn't even refund it at all because they just didn't take blinds back. The lady at the counter actually had to go over her surpervisor's head to eventually get the thing refunded. All totalled it took nearly an hour and a half.
In contrast I spent zero hours deadling with government red tape yesterday.
Once Cox sent us a bill for hooking up service we didn't even ask for - and they agree to zero the bill, then sent the bill anyway. I called and complained and they agreed to nix the bill. They sent it anyway. I emailed and complained and said they would zero the bill. They sent it again anyway. I emailed and complained and said they would zero the bill. They sent it again anyway. Finally, I threatened to sue them, and they said they would zero the bill. The bills stopped coming. 3 years later - we find out they sent it to collection anyway. More phone calls. More wasted time. Finally it got fixed.

bullshite. Ive brought blinds back to home depot after a year with no receipt because I never put em up and wife got mad.
You must have cut them
And I have spent 3 hours on the phone with the IRS today.... nobody is going to call BS on that without being a liar

You ever go to the grocery store and the lady accidentally scans an item twice - and she actually has to get manager to walk over and void the duplicate item?

Is the corporate red tape mandatory with a gun enforcing it?

Nope. Though they thought I had because apparently they didn't get the difference between width and height on the first go around.

Must suck that you are forced to deal with Home depot versus one of their many competitors.

once you set up direct deposit at your local public assistance office, it is pretty smooth sailing from that point forward
Again this proves how stupid you are..."everything doesn't work perfectly!!! frick this!" You're going to have unpleasant experiences with private businesses; however, serving the customer expeditiously and satisfying them is in their interest so they will strive to do that...the dmv on the other hand, doesn't give two shits how long you sit there and wait.
stupid people think the world can be perfect.

I had the opposite experience last month. My printer broke down. It said I needed more toner. I knew that wasn't true.
Went to Office Depot and bought a 70 dollar toner cartridge. Sure enough, the printer still didn't work.
Went back to Office Depot and told them the story:
Me: Can I get a 70 dollar credit for this toner toward the purchase of a new printer?
Them: We have a 2 week limit on that and you bought it 4 weeks ago..but that's OK ..you can have your money back even if you don't buy a new printer with us.
Me: Thanks. I'll buy a new printer from you.
I don't think this would happen in a govt office.

At the time I walked out of the store with my initial purchase my voluntary association with Home Depot was over. The return to the store was not voluntary but instead enforced by the prospect of losing $125 on a lie that Home Depot sold me without my knowledge.

A while back in the other side of the world I read a story about this politician who was convicted of being a child rapist.
All politicians are child rapists. prove it wrong.

Bingo. Tuba should only buy from Ace, Lowes or a local hardware store from now on.

Low level positions rarely have government red tape. Not surprised.
