I was always a bourbon drinker until a buddy of mine told me about Single Malt Scotch. I tried Glenlivet 12 year old and have been hooked ever since.

Cutty Sark when I was about 13.......it was awful. Took me 20 years to get to where I could even smell it.

Single malts are awesome now

Usher's Green Stripe.

I was 16 or 17. Took my buddy and me about 2 months to go through that handle. Pretty much killed scotch for me.

I drank a fifth of Chivas Regal at a football game when I was a freshman. I woke up in Kirby Smith dorm in the study room, covered in recycled pizza. I didn't live there. Never had a taste for the stuff after that...

Chivas Regal, at Boy Scout camp when I was 14. One of my buds raided his parents liquor cabinet. I tried Glenlivet in college and thought it was ok, but prefer Bourbon.

Teachers, it's what my Pop always drank. Still love to drink it, when I can find it, reminds me of him.

1976. Dewar's. Girlfriend's mom served it to me at lunch at her house. Friend was out of state at school.
I will always be grateful.

quote:

Usher's Green Stripe

Went home to visit parents between college semesters. I asked dad if I could get him a beer.

Dad: Ya know, I tried some scotch at a couple's house and I liked it. I bought a bottle.

Me: What brand?

Dad: Cushion

Me: Dad, there is no such thing as Cushion
Scotch.

I walked to the cabinet and opened it...it was Ushers Green Stripe.
