He's like our Sedrick Ellis, minus the ring.

At least Ellis had some production in '09.

Sadly, Peria Jerry reached his ceiling in college football at Ole Miss. He had a bad injury in '09 and that ultimately killed his career.
Slightly feel bad for the guy but he made a lot of money. Hope he was smart with it!

ETA: Most Falcons fans are EXTREMELY happy he retired. This is the old addition by subtraction theory.

see Jenkins, Malcolm

the NFL talking heads make it seem like adding Jenkins is going to bolster their secondary

To the Eagles? I dunno, it might. Not up on my Eagles secondary depth though...

It is true. We have a lot of cap space NOT used this year. Not really sure what the frick is the point? Unless we're gonna spend money like mad men next year, which has been proven to be a shitty model. I dunno. Another 4 win season and TD/Smitty will be gone.

It's a win/win for me. Either produce a bad-arse season or we start over with a new GM/HC next year.

He had a really bad injury at the beginning of his career. Also, he was older (24 or 25) when he was drafted.

2009 was such a crappy draft:

quote:

1 Detroit Lions Matthew Stafford
2 St. Louis Rams Jason Smith OT
3 Kansas City Chiefs Tyson Jackson DE
4 Seattle Seahawks Aaron Curry LB
5 New York Jets Mark Sanchez QB
6 Cincinnati Bengals Andre Smith OT
7 Oakland Raiders Darrius Heyward-Bey WR
8 Jacksonville Jaguars Eugene Monroe OT
9 Green Bay Packers B. J. Raji DT
10 San Francisco 49ers Michael Crabtree WR
11 Buffalo Bills Aaron Maybin DE
12 Denver Broncos Knowshon Moreno RB
13 Washington Redskins Brian Orakpo DE
14 New Orleans Saints Malcolm Jenkins CB

42 Buffalo Bills Jairus Byrd S

Saints' picks that year
quote:

1 14 NOR Malcolm Jenkins DB
4 116 NOR Chip Vaughn DB
4 118 NOR Stanley Arnoux LB
5 164 NOR Thomas Morstead P

The big players in that draft are mid-late 1st round linebackers (Orakpo, Cushing, and Matthews) and those 3 all have missed games due to injury.

One of the best players in the draft is a punter. that is horrid.

There was a poster, Relocated Pelican, who was all about the Saints drafting Moreno at 14. There was actually a little debate about us drafting Moreno or Wells, but he would argue with anyone that the Saints needed to draft Moreno.

I still remember fans wanting to burn shite when we traded up for said punter. Who knew that would be our best decision?

Makes me feel better seeing that, as Jenkins is still in the league. Could be worse. Could have traded up a bunch of spots to take Mark Sanchez. Could have taken a LB (4th) or OT (2nd) or DE (11) that isn't in the NFL right now.

Wow. What a dumpster fire of a top 10. Detroit made out like bandits with Stafford.

With the exception of McCoy, he probably been the most successful RB from that draft. Beanie Wells & Donald Brown were the other 2 RB taken in the 1st round. Shonn Green, Glenn Coffee, Mike Goodsen & Tony Fiammetta were the next 4 off the board.

That draft sucked

After Stafford you have Sanchez, Freeman, Pat White, Steve McGee, Rhett Bomar, Nate Davis, Tom Brandstater, Mike Teel, Keith Null, & Curtis Painter.

WRs- Heyward-Bey, Crabtree, Maclin, Harvin, Nicks, Britt all 1st round picks one combine Pro-Bowl. Neither of the Browns two 2nd round picks in Robiskie & Massaquoi panned out.
