Converting to a new credit card

I currently have the Chase United credit card because I was flying United for work. I have since switched to Southwest Airlines and want to switch my CC from United to Southwest, both with Chase. Is this possible? I already have a Chase Freedom card and a corporate card so i'm trying to limit my wallet to only 3 CC's. Also, the United card costs $450/year and I don't want to pay that anymore because the benefits aren't there.

Even if you could do it I sure wouldn't. You'd miss out on the signing bonus. You just missed the southwest 50k offer but it comes around a lot.
I also get direct email offers for that same bonus so if you can wait, I would wait.

Good to know. I am in no rush so I can wait for the 50k offer to come back. Thanks.

This. Issuers usually offer nice incentives to switch, why not take advantage of that?

I didn't realize that i would lose it so it's not even on the table. I'm going to keep the Mileage Plus card and switch it from Club card to the Explorer. Club card is $400/year and the Explorer is $100. Then just use it for little things to ensure that I have continual use on it.
Thanks for the heads' up guys. Ya'll be the best.

You don't lose mileage already accrued, it's just that a rival card isn't going to give you anything extra if you don't sign up under their offer to switch.

I carry a Southwest Visa because it has always been the best deal IMHO. HOWEVER, I run a lot of business charges through it and never carry a balance so I run up a lot of miles. I already have companion pass for 2015.
I hate credit cards and I don't like to have more than two.
I did see that Fidelty Investments was offering an unlimited cash back American Express with 2% cash rebates on all purchases and that is a very good deal.
That is more lucrative than the Southwest card so I am thinking of getting it. On the $100k it takes to get a companion pass (without flying) you would be getting $2000.
