I have heard this thrown out there that there is not enough time for Harris to win the job game 1, and i think that this is a crock of shite. I think anyone that thinks that there is not enough time for him to win the job before game 1 underestimates his maturity and work ethic. And its not like Jennings is some experienced veteran. I'm sure there will be a lot of smart arse answers, but what say you rant?

He won't start the game.
He may get some PT
At least that is what Les is telling me.

To answer your question yes. Im just ready for fall practice to start so these threads about what we "think" will happen will go away.

I think if people would just listen to Les they will get their answer. He has been saying for quite some time that Harris is in the lead, but the hard heads that post here just aren't listening.

I have to be honest with you, Les Miles will play the man that gives this team the best shot at victory.

B. Harris WILL NOT be the starter game one.... WILL NOT.

The only POSSIBLE way Harris starts game one is if:

1. Jennings gets into a bar fight with a marine and stomps a mud hole in him.
2. Some guy forces his way thru the security gate at an apartment complex and the cops get called... and when they arrive, they smell a strong oder of weed.... And Jennings is in that apartment.
3. Jennings punches a female/his girlfriend in her mouth.
4. Jennings punches a guy in the side of the head in a bar parking lot.
5. Injury

If none of these 5 things happen... Then Jennings is no doubt 100% starter.

Yes there's enough time. But it would mean that Harris would be starting over Jennings off of pure athletic talent. I guarantee that Jennings could run the offense better than Harris, and that will be a factor into it. Both have rocket arms (Jennings just hasn't shown it) and have similar accuracy. But Anthony is so much more experienced than Brandon from having a year in the system and playing in two big games.

But you never stated why Jennings is the starter.

I think both will get fair share of snaps and whoever rises to the challenge will earn the starting posistion. You can evaluate players at practice all you want, but at the end of the day it's practice. We will truly see what each player is made of on 8/30 fish or cut bait is my motto and may the best man win!

Yea, I was really taking a jab at our yearly run in's with the law.... And more making a joke than a point...

But if you need one or two, then I would say Jennings is the starter because...

1. He came in and WON the game against Arkansas.
2. Started and won the Outback Bowl (in horrible fashion) But won as the starter.
3. Points 1 and 2 gives me reason to believe that he has gained valuable experience and has earned the right to have a slight edge. Though, he could just be lucky... Or maybe, that outback bowl was very "Les" called game.
4. We play a formidable opponent the first game. If we lose with Harris as the starter, then we have NO HOPE this coming season... And Tiger Dropping.com will crash from the outrage of how bad we are. lol. BUT.... if we lose with Jennings as the starter, then B. Harris can come and be the freshman savior.
5. Honestly, I have heard from a former player and a current player that the TEAM seems to want Jennings to have his shot to be the starter. The TEAM is behind Jennings... Supporting him and his opportunity.

But other than that, I really don't know. I haven't been at practices... I really don't know who is the better QB.... I just believe Jennings will 100% start the first game. And I hope Jennings is a WINNER... I don't care about Talent as much as I care about the QB being a WINNER. And Jennings may very well be that kind of guy. Because he doesn't seem as talented as Harris.

Here's the question as I see it regarding the QB situation, especially game 1:

Is LSU (Miles AND Cam) willing to [risk?] simplify the offense for a true frosh to start?

This is based off the assumption that it takes a while to learn a Cam offense.

Don't know the answer. But right beside talent level and athleticism this has to be a factor.

What experience does Jenning have? He made some confidence boosting plays against Arkansas and then laid a big turd against Iowa. Harris has been here since January and participated in a full off season. Who's to say who knows the playbook better.

Our big time skill players coming in at WR and TE and RB having been working non stop with Harris. I don't think we should be using this experience angle or knowing the playbook better as some automatic plus for Jennings.

Who has the talent and who can make the plays is who should start. We have an elite defense and our two QBs each had a shot at them in the Spring Game and one looked clearly better than the other. I think that should be the biggest tell of who should start.

I like Jennings. If he would just put a little more zip on the ball he would be a stud. Let the healthy competition begin
