Bringing my girlfriend there tomorrow night for her birthday. I've never been any suggestions on what to order?

Eta: gumbo for the appetizer, had the filet with red wine sauce and of course the Alaska bake. Also tried my girlfriends grilled fish topped with lump crabmeat. It was amazingly delicious every single thing I got there was top notch. We had great service and they even gave my girlfriend a free Antoine's champagne glass to keep as a gift.

Nothing.

But seriously, if you must go there, order the Baked Alaska for dessert ahead of time. Either when you make your reservation or as soon as you are seated. It is definitely by far the best thing there.

Everything is else kind of the same to me.

Last few times I ate there I was really disappointed in the food. Soft shell crab was heavily battered...too much so. souffle potatoes were cold and greasy. The crawfish bisque wasn't very good. Maybe get the standard amandine or meuniere fish dishes. I can't say any of the 4 of us really enjoyed the meal.

Any particular reason you chose Antoine's?

Yeah it is a beautful place but its not really great anymore. Way too old school for me.

Keep it simple, and get the Baked Alaska and you will be fine.

I personal would go some where else. They are living off of faded glory. Prices are inflated, food average at best.

Pretty sweet way to get your girlfriend to break up with you and let everyone know you had nothing to do with it.

You trying to bang her friend or something?

Maybe I shouldn't say this, but last time I was there I ordered the broiled tilapia with lump crab on top. It was damned excellent.

Let the hating begin!

I love old school New Orleans food, from time to time, like Galatoire's, Arnaud's and Bon Ton. I've crossed Antoine's off the list, though.

I crave oysters Arnaud. I might just go there one time and order those as an app, an entree and then, again, for dessert.

I love rock, of course. Kathryn and Ohan are both very good. There's not one that I don't enjoy, but I'd go with those three as tops. I can't quite recall if I like Ohan or Kathryn better.

Looked back at some of my notes from Arnaud's. The Ohan is my favorite.
