Connecting iPhone to TV to watch Slingbox at a tailgate: Good or bad idea?

I have a generator, a speaker set, and a slingbox already. I also have a portable dish but here's the issue... it's complicated as shite and I personally don't enjoy setting it up. I got the idea that maybe I could use my slingbox app and stream it to my TV instead of bringing the whole portable dish, the box, and etc.
My questions:
1) What is there out there to connect an iPhone to a TV?
2) Will the picture on the screen be worth a damn?
3) Is this idea worth a damn?
If this works I could sell the dish and really get more out of what I already have in addition to hastening set up? What do the tech gurus here think? Is there a better idea other than quit being a bitch and just get better at setting up the dish?

The biggest problem you will face is bandwidth in a tailgate situation (too many phones in the area to get a reliable data connection).
I use my android tablet in a similar way while camping and it works great, but there aren't 100,000 other phones in the area using data.
I would say to keep the dish for a reliable feed.

2 . Yes, but if you are at a tailgate, your cell phone provider will probably be overloaded.
3. Yea, if you can get a decent download speeds on your phone in a crowded area

Thanks, guys. Yea, my biggest fear is my phone struggling with all the other phones in the area. It might work at Braves games but I get the idea at UGA it may struggle.

I'm not an apple fan and don't own a slingbox, but I use my Windows Media Center at home with a program called Remote Potato and an app called Remote Media Center to stream live and recorded TV to my camper on weekends while camping with a good HSPA+ or LTE connection on my phone. (Connection shared via mobile hotspot from my phone.)
It has worked out well for me and I've actually watched the last two LSU bowl games and the Georgia game last year with this setup.

Ahh. I guess it's worth a shot but ultimately...damn. That said I got RZN to work on my phone at a Falcons tailgate..but that was ATL.
I just really rather have to only hook a charger up to my phone and do that. In my 24 years nothing has been more frustrating than trying to get that dish set up right. Maybe I just need practice.

The biggest issue is gonna be cellular data connection but depending on where you tailgate (on campus) you might be able to get a good/decent enough signal from the school wifi which would be plenty fast enough. Of course, you'd have to be a student/faculty or have someone in your tailgate who is.

I'm a recent grad but I may know some kids I can bum the internet off of.
And haha that sounds right. I'll admit I have only tried a couple of times but each time within 20 min i got pissed and got drunk instead.

We did the whole Slingbox off a mifi connection. It was great, until after the first tailgate it ran through more than half the data plan. It worked fine otherwise.
So if you're on limited data, you will run over. (I think we used 2.5gb in a 4 hour period.)

Luckily I am grandfathered into unlimited data. They are kind of annoying about it now and after a certain amount they slow ya down but I used to go on road trips for games in college and sundays I'd stream RZN on my phone on the drive back and it worked fine.
