Was great. Much better than season 2 IMO. How are seasons 4 and 5? TIA.

Same. Finished it last night for the second time. I started watching The Wire a couple years back and got half way through season 4 and stopped for some reason so I'm doing a rewatch to get through the whole thing now.

Great show.

Season 4 and 5 are very good, but most on here think season 5 is a steaming pile of crap

4 is right up there with 3 as the two greatest seasons IMO.

5 is arguably the weakest season overall, but still great. I actually think 2 is the weakest season--but it's still great.

4 is outstanding....so deep and emotional. Maybe the best 13 hours in television history. I actually rank it higher than season 3.

5 is a letdown due to the main storyline but it wraps up perfectly.

I liked season three a lot. It's hard for me to decide which one I liked best though

4 rivals season ! for me as the best of the series.

That's a pretty decent synopsis of it IMO. Parts of season 5 definitely get a little strange/stupid, but all in all it's still very good television, and it definitely wraps up the series perfectly, and is a solid cap on the greatest television show of all time.

im not sure if i enjoy season 1, 3 or 4 the best. i do feel that season 4 is the most heart wrenching.

Agreed. Season 3 is Shakespearian-level greatness, but what elevates season 4 to its level is the sheer power that it has to kick you right in the feels.

Season 4 is great because it introduces the most sympathetic characters/victims of the system and drug war. It's probably my favorite in the series but every season is great in my eyes. I like season 5 because of the editorial/media perspective and how it wraps up. Some characters transition and evolve, some stay the same, some don't make it.

Finished season 4 with the wife last night. Only took us 4-5 days to watch it. Terrific season.

On to season 5 soon.

It's been years since I've seen an episode so I'll probably start over and go through the whole series.

People have their favorite seasons but it's a series mixing all the elements of society in Baltimore. You can say Season 2 < Season 3 or whatever but it misses the point. Each season plays an an important part in the overall mechanics of the system. You never understand how the drugs actually get into the city without season 2 and how everything is interconnected.

People always piss on season 2 but it's an important bridge in the series. There was a reason for progressing each season the way they did and when you finish the entire series you see the brilliance of the Wire.
