What y'all use for inshore saltwater?

Speck rigs?

Red rigs?

Have some spooled with 30-40 lb power pro braided. That's more for when I'm targeting bull reds or bigger fish.

Mostly I use straight mono. Stren original 12 lb.

Power pro 20-30 # on all inshore spinning rods.

It's far superior to mono.

Power pro and be done with it. I see practicly no everyday situation where mono trumps the braid. Learn uni knot and you are set

I use 20 lb suffix 832 on my reels (shimano 3000 size) with a dbl uni knot to either a popping cork or a 2.5 foot 15 mono leader. I use mono leaders for my popping cork leader as well. MS & LA is dirty enough to where I don't think you need fluorocarbon leaders. Loved the suffix 832 so far

Try to mix it up.
Put 30lb braid straight to the terminus on one reel.
Put 30lb braid plus a 3 foot leader of 12-17lb mono.
Then, put straight 12-17lb mono on yet another.
That's how I run mine and have been happy with it.
As far as brands I like PowerPro braid and Trilene Big Game.
This will handle all your inshore needs from big reds to specks and flounder.

I just rigged up for my trip to the gulf this fall going after reds and trout.

Used 14lb red cajun line on my baitcaster
12 & 15 Trilene Big Game for my spinning reel (2 spools)

All mono. Would have used braid if I had any.

30# Power Pro Super Slick here... way over kill and will switch to lighter line when it goes bad in 6 years.

I challenge all you SOB's at a wind knot tying competition.

30# braid on everything and carry a spool of 20# mono and 20# floro for leaders. I tie on 6' leaders the night before I go fishing so I have extra to change tackle. Uni knot goes through micro eyes like butter.

This is the setup I will prolly go with. I have plenty of mono line, so I will pick up some 20 or 30 power pro. How are y'all putting the leaders on ? Swivels or a double uni knot?

Uni-uni is the way to go unless you're fishing a Carolina rig

A swivel is just one more thing for a fish to see
