We could have been very very good. That 2009-2010 team was on the verge of something very good. If RvP hadn't gotten injured, and we weren't forced to play that beautiful bastard Arshavin upfront, then what could have been. But if those players still played for us they would be perpetually injured like they were when they actually did play for us. Wenger's record in terms of player development is nonpareil for the most part.

No doubt. Oh well.
Love that tricky little Russian.

It amazes me that we didn't buy him back
During the Moyes season when we were heavily linked with buying Fabregas a few Arsenal fans on here said that Arsenal would never let us buy them due to having first rights.
My question. Was this mentality strictly about United? Why wouldn't Chelsea be included in this? Is it because we already purchased RvP?

the latest story seems to be that him going to chelsea was a done deal for awhile and that he wanted to go there. not sure if that's AW trying to save his arse, but guys like John Cross seem convinced that's what happened.

we didn't have ozil at that point. i think we all thought 1) cesc wanted to come back if he failed at barca and 2) we would fit him in somewhere no matter what. at least one of those is certainly true and they both might be.
also, his lady friend and baby live in london

Gibbs is fine for Burnley, apparently.

Do y'all think Theo gets any playing time against Burnley?

I'm not sure if Arsene will play him, unless we need to and that would suck because it is Burnley.

i think he could get a run out if we beat the shite out of them. he might be ready this week for a tight contest though. last week, i think it was more of a mental thing putting him on the bench. don't think he was ever going to play.

Seeing lots of chatter linking us to Polish DM Grzegorz Krychowiak, who's been outstanding for Sevilla this year.

MOTM three times in 8 La Liga matches. Looks like a positionally intelligent, two footed DM with a nose for a tackle. Not sure about his speed, but looks a good player.

Spoke too soon on Gibbs.
quote:
Arsène Wenger has revealed the latest team news ahead of Saturday's home match against Burnley at Emirates Stadium:
on the team news…
There are a few uncertainties, like Kieran Gibbs. But we’ll know more tomorrow. Apart from that everyone should be available. Wilshere is back from suspension. We have no other injuries and no one else coming back into the squad.
on Kieran Gibbs…
It is a hip problem. He came off at Sunderland with 20 minutes to go. He is a doubt but we’ll know more tomorrow.
on Yaya Sanogo…
He is back available.
on Serge Gnabry and Abou Diaby…
They are not quite ready yet. Gnabry is closer than Diaby fitness-wise. He is a couple of weeks away.

Yeah, that doesn't sound very encouraging. Arsenal has to win Saturday and Tuesday. We need Gibbs he has been great and is only getting better.

unfortunately, i gave up on my following of sevilla after watching one match or else i could give a scouting report
Posted on 10/30/14 at 1:50 pm to glassman
Yeah well if we need Gibbs maybe Arsene should have thought about that before letting him limp around the field for twenty minutes.

No way to know if that caused any more damage that what initially occurred.

It's a pretty good guess that if you experience a trauma, playing more minutes in a PROFESSIONAL SOCCER GAME wouldn't be the best thing to do
Posted on 10/30/14 at 6:07 pm to PTBob
Oh, I know. Just no way to gauge if it did.

Can't believe nobody has posted any of the latest news from today.
Especially of note is Wenger saying that Giroud is "miles ahead" in his rehabilitation of his broken foot and will be back in full training with the first team in 3 weeks straight after the next international break.
