We love those late goals this season.
And I posted that before Podolski's goal. Holy shite.

How the frick did we just that game?

Watching this game was like watching a virgin in a brothel. The result was there, but the process was cringeworthy.
I really hate watching this team play. While Per is a massive liability, I think Flamini is a bigger one. He can't play a forward pass worth a shite, and I don't even think his defensive work is all that great. Ramsey is a better defensive player than Flamini, and is probably better than Flamini ever was. The fact we are a passing team, but have two players in Per (who has improved massively in his distribution) and Flamini who can't pass. We don't need a DM. We just need a central midfielder who can cover ground and play forward pass, and pick his moments to go forward. We actually have a player in Ramsey who could excel in that role, but he also excels running the field, and without Ozil, we need his ability to move the midfield around in order to even create chances.

All that matters is the result.

True, but false. We can't keep playing like this. Change the fricking formation already. Quit trying to break down ten men behind the ball with zero creativity and then get rocked every time on the counter. Make a god damn sub with more than fifteen minutes left to play. It's not a surprise Podolski scored for us. He actually shoots the ball. He's not a starter but he has a place in this team and loves the club. Let's stop limiting this guy to scrub minutes when we are already so terrible at rotating our lineup and lessening fatigue on every game starters. Let subs get more playing time than a sixth of the game. Maybe they will get into a decent rhythm. And despite Arsene's distaste for subs, our constant injuries mean that the team never gets any cohesion. Flamini, Per, a lack of defensive depth, and Arsene's tactics are our biggest liabilities right now.
Also, Andy Najar raped us, but I kind of enjoyed watching him play.

I am still amazed at the similarities of reputation and modes of operation of the coaches/managers of my favorite teams.
Arsene/Tony LaRussa--both all-time greats and probably Hall of Fame worthy, but head-bangingly stubborn. Seem to run esoteric systems just to prove their "genius" instead of obvious, commonsense formations/lineups.
Arsene/Les Miles--both are accused of running "boring" offenses. Yes, there is some truth there.
I envisioned Arsene being more like Mike Martz in his prime as offensive coordinator of the "Greatest Show on Turf" Rams--a "mad scientist" who knew how to use his assets and lineup--mixing in Podolski and others at just the right time. But he does seem to have his "doghouse" and his lineups and player use are many times maddeningly stale.

We have no width the way we are starting matches. I mean ZERO. And every time we sub off Flamini lo and fricking behold we get width, space, and score goals.

From last night - Ramsey and Wilshere are essentially on top of each other.

Probably for the best tbh

Playing Ramsey and Jack in the same side is killing Aaron. They play the exact same position.

Just saw an arsenal about khedira lowering his wage demands to push a move to Arsenal. Then I read that he lowered it from £200k to £80 a week and instantly thought bullshite. Is it wrong to not believe that some who reportedly wouldn't budge with £200k a week would lower it by more than a half.

And not soon enough. Will probably be on the bench, of course.
I seriously think we need to start Lukas out wide. I know, I know, but we need width so desperately, and he DOES produce.
Time to play Aaron and Jack together without an anchor behind them. We've done it in desperation the last two games and scored when we had to.
Funny thing is their games can work together. They're both plenty strong enough to sit deep, Ramsey covers a ton of ground, Jack has shown he can recycle possession.
I say keep one fullback relatively conservative, probably Callum, and drop the DM altogether. Just fricking try something different to get us width. It'd be one thing if our fullbacks were super creative players who can overlap, beat a defender one on one and send in a superb cross, but they're really not. And if they were, we have no one to get on the end of them.

Callum crossed to Gibbs for the first goal against Anderlecht. And all of our width came from our backs. Anyone else think Ramsey has been slacking in his defense so far this year? Also we only have one clean sheet this far and that is pretty depressing.

Ramsey is a better defensive player than Flamini. Flamini is horrible. The Jack-Aaron axis looks worse than it is because one plays a forward pass to the other, so over the course of the game it might average that they are in the same position when they are actually not. Aaron is the runner for Jack's passes. Jack is the outlet for Aaron's passes. I'd rather we drop Flamini and just use the Aaron-Jack combo because of how horrible Flamini is. Width is a concern, but having Walcott back will help.

Yeah, but I think Ramsey is trying to do too much in the attack and doesn't do as much defensive work as he did last year. I'd like to see him do more of the gritty D work and get some confidence back. Maybe then he'll start making 10 yard passes again.
Also, this is why we never score from corners.

Yeah he's definitely trying to do too much. His game is amazing when it's simple. He also looks much more built this season. His problem is that he either seems to do everything right or nothing right.
