College Spun put together projected the win total for every SEC team on Monday and they have LSU finishing the season 9-3 (5-3). Here is what they had to say about the Tigers:
quote:
LSU (9-3, 5-3): LSU needs to reload. It lost its starting quarterback, its starting running back, its two top wide receivers and several members of its defense. This should make its opening game against Wisconsin in Houston, along with its trips to Auburn and Texas A&M, really difficult. The Tigers also travel to the Swamp to take on Florida, and have a huge game against Alabama midway through the season. Star freshman tailback Leonard Fournette better be the real deal. Complete Projections:

And Bama isnt losing anything?

East:
South Carolina 11-1 (7-1)
Georgia 10-2 (6-2)
Missouri 8-4 (4-4)
Florida 7-5 (4-4)
Vanderbilt 6-6 (2-6)
Tennessee 4-8 (1-7)
Kentucky 3-9 (0-8)

West:
Alabama 12-0 (8-0)
Auburn 11-1 (7-1)
LSU 9-3 (5-3)

Texas A&M 9-3 (5-3)
Ole Miss 8-4 (4-4)
Mississippi State 7-5 (3-5)
Arkansas 4-8 (0-8)

So Bama loses more than us and still goes undefeated

According to Phil Steele , 11 SEC teams will reach the postseason in 2014, including LSU who is projected to play Michigan in the Gator Bowl.

Here are his complete SEC Bowl Projections:

College Football Playoff
Rose Bowl: Alabama vs. Ohio State
Sugar Bowl: Florida State vs. Oklahoma

Orange Bowl: Auburn vs. Marshall
Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl: Georgia vs. Michigan State
Capital One Bowl: Ole Miss vs. Wisconsin
Birmingham Bowl: Tennessee vs. Memphis
Outback Bowl: South Carolina vs. Iowa
Gator Bowl: LSU vs. Michigan

LSU is ranked No. 15 in Phil Steele's recent preseason top 40 for 2014.

Here’s a look at Steele’s complete preseason top 40:

1. Florida State
2. Alabama
3. Ohio State
4. Oklahoma
5. UCLA
6. Oregon
7. Georgia
8. Baylor
9. Auburn
10. South Carolina
11. Michigan State
12. USC
13. Wisconsin
14. TCU
15. LSU

This team and program has to be sick of being disrespected constantly, I know as someone who bleeds purple and gold, I am sick of it. It pisses me off when people talk down about LSU and always talk Bama up, I mean seriously shite is getting old and I really hope this team and coaching staff feel disrespected and use it as a fire to come out and kick some SEC arse this year! It is time to shut everyone up and prove them all wrong!!!
I believe in LSU and I hope you do, I believe this team will be able to compete with anyone and everyone and I truly believe this defense will keep us in every single ball game and put us in position to win every game!!!

The first part you bolded is fact. LSU lost a ridiculous amount of skilled talent. To finish with the same record as last year would be a great job by the staff and players. Beating Michigan for yet another 10 win season would be a fantastic season.

There is serious talk of a true freshman starting at QB, RB, and possibly 2 WR positions. I don't think all of those will happen, but the team will be extremely young on offense. Fans expecting more than 10 wins in the SEC with that much turnover are expecting too much. I highly disagree that Bama goes 12-0 though. They'll drop two games IMO.

9-3 in this conference isn't exactly being disrespected. We lost to Ole Miss last year. Ole Miss.

Always talk Bama up, can you blame them? Without a miracle TD by Auburn with no time on the clock, there's a good chance that bama is playing in how many national championships in the last 5 years? 4. Them being talked up is warranted. Sorry

If Auburn can make the National title last year, with that soft defense and a QB that never played QB in college before, I dont see why we cant.

ETA: not saying 10 wins isnt good, its the fact of Bama losing just as much if not more talent than us and still get crowned, That is the disrespect I speak of!!!

Magee and Hilliard are trusty backs and add Fournette, just as stellar as last year with this stud O Line.

Dural had plenty of PT last year, Chi will be a stud, Peterson and Diarse could have huge years and dont forget Quinn,

If we can get at least decent management at QB from one or the other we will be just fine on offense, and I dont think we have to discuss how beastly our defense will be!

Goes both ways. Without Miles out coaching himself in 2012, they don't go to the championship. Without the media and NCAA trying to make a statement for change, they don't play us in the championship game in 2011. Without them beating Tennessee 12-10 in 2009 at home by a blocked FG, they possibly don't go in 2009 either.

Just like us in 2007, Auburn getting Cam in 2010, etc.

This is LSU's typical team. People act like we've required good QB and WR play to get to 10 regular season wins. We did it in 2010 with 1865 yards and 7 TDs. We did it in 2011 with 2082 yards and 21 TDs, we did it in 2012 with 2487 yards and 11 TDs.

Good teams have bad games. That was bad. A thorough asswhopping in TS will set things straight on 10/25.

I don't get the disrespect thing. Overall LSU is a highly regarded program and always mentioned in the top five programs on XM radio channel 91.

Steeles evaluation is just an educated guess based on what the team looks like on paper. Besides its good to be underestimated.

Les doesn't care about no stinking preseason rankings/predictions.

Reloading has been the motto this offseason. Les has talked about the amount of freshmen expected to play and so has Cam.

i dont see it as disrespect either. Teams need luck and an overall healthy season. If we get decent qb play we will be near the top of the rankings by seasons end.

this team can make lots of noise this year if certain positions step up (i know, rhetorical.)

but, IMO, 2015 is the year that alot have circled as the year to contend. Assuming that these talented freshmen have had the opportunity to play meaningful snaps in 2014, they should be ready to take that next step. We'd likely return nearly everyone in the secondary as well. IMO, DL would still be a question mark.

This is nothing more than the national media telling you what they think of LSU's and Alabama's head coaches.

Historically I think LSU has done better coming in as underdogs. I think this team with a chip on their shoulders will be a dangerous team. I cant wait to see them!

I used to get worked up over this...honestly. Then I realized that in almost all cases, and especially now given the four team playoff format, all ANY major program has to do is win and they're in. Respect comes with winning.

Truth be told, I'd much prefer to be the king AFTER the season than before it. If LSU does have more wins than BAMA and AU, LSU will go to the SECCG. They win there, it essentially assures them of a spot in the playoff. They win those two, they are champs. And none of that has anything to do with Phil Steele.

FWIW, I'm not saying I disagree with your analysis...just that it'll work itself out where it matters...on the field.

I just think it's funny how it's assumed that Alabama and Auburn will both wreck shop this year. Not gonna happen.

You say that as if it were an abnormality. LSU is 7-5 against Ole Miss and Arkansas since 2008.

Not exactly a stellar record.
