Alabama returns 12 starters (7 on offense, 5 on defense). They'll also be breaking in a new quarterback.

LSU returns 12 starters (5 on offense, 7 on defense). We'll also be breaking in a new quarterback.

There isn't a drastic gap in difficulty between the two schedules this year (Wisconsin, Florida, Kentucky vs West Virginia, Florida, Tennessee).

Yet, for some reason, Alabama fans yet again (along with the media) expect their program to make an appearance in the national title. Meanwhile, most LSU fans would seem to be content with just 10 wins.

Unless you subscribe to the notion that Alabama recruits superior talent to LSU, why should the expectations for our program this year be lower than the expectations 'Bama fans have for their team?

I really believe ole miss was better than everyone thinks...did anyone watch the game when they played bama...they had it 1st and goal like 3 times and never punched it in and also held bama from scoring a TD in the entire first half...and should have beat A&M...now yes they lost some other games they shouldnt of which makes the lose that much more worse but Ole Miss was a trap game from the beginning and IMO were a good football team with horrible coaching

They were a good team but we had no business losing that game.

Until we beat Bama and stop losing 2 or 3 games a year, it will continue to be this way.

Losing to Ole Miss isn't the shocker you make it out to be. Losing to Ole Miss when they had so many second teamers on the field is head shaking.

There will always be games like this one each and every year. More often than not we prevail but sometimes we don't.

man...FU*K Alabama's head coach. What a way for us to break in the new expansion of our stadium this year -- embarrass that POS!

based on the rankings of recruiting, they do. The validity of those rankings may be questionable (not because of some perceived bias, just based on the nature of high school age males and how much variability there is in the maturing process). Now it is not vastly superior by any account.

Shouldn't, but don't go by the Rant to make a judgement of the overall fanbase's expectations.

Les should stop promoting the "Bama complex." It gets in the players' heads. Just treat them like any other opponent.

Fair prediction

Bama is usually in the national championship game or a BCS bowl for the last couple of years.

LSU usually wins 9 games a year and most LSU fans are happy with that.

They have Nick Saban and we have Les Miles. It is what it is. Deal with it.

So you'd only be happy with losing 1 game a year? Wake me up when that's even vaguely realistic.

Nah, lose hard fought game to best team in your conf and nation ....nobody will complain too much.

Get embarrassed twice as we did last year, yeah people are going to have some discontent.

I'm failing to understand with this is CONSISTENTLY so fricking difficult for you to comprehend.

Just so there is no misunderstanding here, are you saying that what Alabama did to us last year (2nd half especially) and the ole miss game wasn't embarrassing?

No, that's what you post when you have no basis for your opinion other than its the opposite of mine.

No, unlike you I don't throw a hissy fit or get "embarrassed" when we get beat by a better team or lose in a fluke upset. Would have liked to see a better effort from the O-line in the 2nd half against Bama, but I'm confident we won't have effort issues with this unit and Grimes at the helm.

The Ole Miss game pissed me off because I hate losing to them. It was a perfect storm of things going against us (three first-half picks, two in the end zone, they played out of their minds). They still just won on a last-second field goal. I don't get embarrassed by fluke upsets, because in football, as in life, shite happens. We aren't the only team that tries to win and recruits good players.

I really think you need to take a step back and understand that EVERY team loses to teams they shouldn't and EVERY team gets their shite kicked in by Alabama from time to time. There's no point in pissing and moaning about it.

We're in a goddamn great position going forward and I wouldn't trade our program's stature and its success for anyone not named Alabama.

Very true. I choose to look on the bright side of a game played by college-aged guys. Others don't. And the world keeps spinning.

And really, no matter how you slice it, we've got a pretty great thing going. We've weeded out the weak links and we're destroying it on the recruiting path. Next 3-4 years should be special.
