How is Houston's downtown area? Nightlife? Hotel recommendations? I want to be able to park the car and walk.
Anyone have experience with uptown?

I don't venture downtown much due to the homeless, you aren't in any danger them asking for money just gets annoying.

The bar scene in H-Town depends on your age.

Recent Grad/Into Crowded Bars/etc: Midtown

Your a D-Bag: Washington Ave

Recent Grad/Relaxed Vibe: Rice Village. I spend a lot of my bar time in Rice Village.

Most just call it "Washington". They've tried the Rice Military name but it hasn't really caught on

Haven't ventured out to the heights that much. Will eventually check it out though, noticed a lot of reconstruction in that area.

Another place that is awesome is West Alabama Ice House, grab some beers and shoot the shite with friends outside, great day drinking joint.

Yeah it's a great day drinking spot. Jackson's Watering Hole is not too far from there and fun too
