Monogrammed dress shirts. Pretentious and tacky or not?

I've always liked initials monogrammed on the pocket or cuff of a button down. Mostly in business casual type settings. But at the same time, I can see how it comes off tacky. What says the OT?

I've never seen it on a man so I would likely find it odd.

But who gives a frick. If thats something you like then go for it boss.

Self entitled prick is more like it.

What the frick are you talking about? What does a monogram have to do with flaunting success?

It came up because my wife asked about monogrammed onesies for our son that will be coming in September. I thought it was odd for a boy, then realized that men monogram dress shirts. Then somehow contemplated how it can be tacky for a man to monogram his shirts. I have a random thought process

Not a fan, personally.

I always expect to see Pat Riley hair and a fake bake tan with the monogrammed shirts.

This is a stupid fricking statement.

Who gives a shite? You like it do it. My wife has given me a couple turtlenecks with monograms. I'm not crazy about them and wouldn't do it myself but I wear them just as often as any.

Monogrammed clothing for children and monogrammed towels are classy as shite.

A grown man wearing a monogrammed dress shirt I would find odd.

I think it's fine. I have 2-3 dress shirts that have my initials on the cuffs that I have gotten for Christmas. Similar to this picture

It was two totally separate thought paths. It just sparked my thoughts on boys and monogramming. I have no problem with monogramming his clothes. I've personally never had a problem with guys who's shirts had it, but I can see where it comes off stupid looking. If I ever do it, I'll be sure to not care what anyone else thinks.

Eta: to the poster above. If I get shirts done, it would be the same color stitching as the shirt like your pic. Subtle, but clearly states that I'm better than you.

People will probably say it's tacky now but it never use to be.
