UPDATE: It appears MLS might be getting their first ultras in OC fans next year

They had a game last night against Tampa. Where they set the stadium on fire, snuck into the home supporter section to attack the fans. And punched a child in the face
And the official word from the Orlando supporters really helps their cause...
quote:
@RowdiesGameday: Orlando's fans have attacked the Mob and they're punching children. Slight distraction.
quote:
@RowdiesGameday: The stadium briefly was lit on fire, but it appears to be resolved. Hard to pay attention to what's happening on the field.
quote:
@RowdiesSoccer: Unlike most Rowdies matches, Sunday evening we had several overzealous fans act inappropriately... (CONT). We expected a heated rivalry and had extra security and police on hand as a precaution... (Cont.). Both the Tampa Bay Rowdies and @OrlandoCitySC management do not condone this behavior.
And the official word from the Orlando supporters really helps their cause...

If you are a member of the Ruckus or just an OCSC supporter and believe all the bullshite being spewed by Ralph's Mob, shame on you!!
You out of all people know how we handle ourselves in and out of the stands. We hold ourselves to the highest standards and we would never do anything to damage our teams reputation or our own, and never ever will we put little children in harms way. If you were not at the game, no need to talk about what you did not see. And if you were, you'll know that the only issues our members had were when the cops used excessive force on some of our members.
At the end of the day, it shows that Orlando City are superior on and off the field and that Ralph's Mob, all 20 of them, will go to great lengths to tarnish our name and reputation. Keep your heads high Orlando, we represented our team and city to the best of our ability... Ralph's Mob, frick YOU!

Yeah but after reading up on them. These guys are about as legit ultras as you can find in the US. And the ownership group loves it and gives zero fricks

Are we that desperate to mimic England that we have to do this type of bullshite as well?
Disgusting.
Disgusting.

that's how you get banned from every MLS stadium for life... America doesn't play that

will be interesting to see how big a rivalry Miami vs Orlando will become.

Is Miami a sure thing? Seems to still be up in the air at this point.

You mean 20 years ago? Fans don't even stand at the matches anymore. The ultras have been priced out. Unless Portsmouth and Leeds are still doing that in the Championship, in-stadia hooliganism is a thing for the history books of English football.

pretty sure its going to happen. The Marlins fricked everything up completely, but if they improve and resign some players, the city will forgive them a bit.
The Stadium is the issue. Port of Miami wont happen. The Cruiselines did not want it and they want another mall, shopping area instead (god knows we don't need that).
The next plan was in fill a public boat area (but the environmentalists bitched) and put it next to AAA arena (where heat play). There are two big issues with these and its Traffic. Many are complaining that traffic is already terrible enough. It is but it will always be terrible and the metro would prbly be the way most fans would go.
The last spot is near the marlins stadium and i think this is where it will get built. Its got the space. It is relatively close to public transit and maybe they can work something out to expand the metro line if both franchises are pushing it (and its prbly needed anyway as the area is highly populated). The marlins will prbly be on board as it would help them out with trying to get more traffic to go to the shops at the stadium.
There are also other less desirable plans to put it a couple of other spots downtown or in tropicana park which is prbly where the team wants it the least.
If all else fails, I think Beckham is waiting for the right time to say the magic words of "We have talked to UM and Shalala and Al Golden and we are planning to build a 40K soccer/UM football stadium"
I really think it will happen though. Beckham and ownership really want it and they are doing it the right way. And have the star power to get miami wanting it.
The people of the city wants it for the most part. No public funding will be used for the stadium. the city loves soccer (even though the last mls franchise failed). All of the prior to the world cup friendlies had very healthy attendance in the Dolphin's Sun life stadium.
I think the politicians want it as well but they are nervous because the marlins deal.

England was probably a poor choice of words on my part. It just seems like a bunch of idiots watched Green St Hooligans, and decided to mimic it.

Was debating between Orlando and Miami for my domestic fandom. Orlando it is

The Orlando fans were all acting like assholes at the US - Nigeria game in Jacksonville.
Should be fun.

This is my thought as well. I know fans get drunk and fight. Hell anytime the Chargers and Raiders play there is always a new crop of some fatty fights but I can't help but think the whole "sneaking into an away section to pick a fight and starting fires" is something they hear is what hardcore fans do in Europe so they do it too.
In no other sport in the US do you hear about this thing kind of happening, at least in such a planned and deliberate manner.
