The taco take over is in full swing on Magazine street. That Byblos location is fairly new, wonder if it's the same ownership just trying to cash in on the taco game. Either way I like tacos.

I'm not sure what your post is saying.

So there's a new taco place next door to the bulldog already open and Byblos is no longer there?

Hope it's better than Del Fuego. Looks like restaurant owners are seeing the Mexican genre gap Nola has and acting appropriately.

I only know that Byblos was slanging falafel & hookahs two nights ago and now they are closed. Sign out front says Spider Taco Shop opening soon and renovations are in progress. The Rum House effect.

Damn Mediterranean food is dying in the city.

And LE I had a pretty bad experience at Del Fuego.

Try it out & form your opinion but it was bad. Every taco sucked. Grilled shrimp was not cooked well enough & fish tasted like the Gulf of Mexico. Pork was nasty. Guac was bad. Tostadas (instead of chips) were the most stale deep friend "chip" I've had. Probably overcooked badly. Even requested more and it was exactly alike. Rice and beans were not even good, would expect Taco Bell to be better. The hot sauce was good and salsa was good. Margarita and fiancées drink were very good but their bar only holds 4 seats so you can't go just to drink.
Son I am disappoint.

Sorry to hijack your thread Wise.

Haven't been to Byblos in years. It's departure is no loss to the cultcha!

I can see the pics better on here than in a text message.

My beans looked nothing like that lumpy...puke. Weird.

Del Fuego

I'm a sailor's girl, the best is yet to come
Rolling in my Fuego, I do my own stunts
I see guilty people, angels blowing horns

Some days it's just not worth gnawing through the straps
Freak out and throw stuff, World's Greatest Dad
Read a little book about Vlad the Impaler

Whoa, oh
Whoa, oh

Inside your Fuego, we keep it rolling
Inside your Fuego, we keep it rolling
Inside your Fuego, we keep it rolling
Inside your Fuego, we keep it rolling

I asked Diego if it was stolen
Inside your Fuego, we keep it rolling
Rolling, rolling, rolling
Diego, Diego, Diego

If I had to bet, I'd say yes. It seems like he and/or his brothers, cousins, uncles own most of the buildings on the river side of Magazine between Washington and Louisiana.

ETA: There was a time that Byblos was pretty good (a few years ago). Too bad.

Yeah, I'm betting the Lebanese mafia still owns it.

The market? I agree.

It's not a bad lunch spot.

that was the Best Byblos IMO but it wasn't as good as some other options in the area.

I never ate there b/c I keep the Metairie locations in my lunch rotation. Plus the parking sucks.
