How old is the USA to you? (and maybe discuss the revolution and founding?)

If we go by the declaration of independence (as I and many do) we are 238 year old as a nation.

But England and much of the world didn't recognize us until 1783 after the Treaty of Paris, so to them we are 231.

The USA as we know it now wasn't established until 1789, when the constitution was adopted.
So that marks the 225 birthday of the US constitution.

But whatever age of our nation, we cannot deny it's the greatest in the world. We can have two sides who both think the other is ruining everything, yet we can all come together to recognize the greatness around us.
I know so many of us look around and silently think "I'm so glad I was born in the US and not Africa or the Middle East or something".
Even at our worst, we are still as a whole better than the best of other nations.
States with their own identities full of communities that all bind together. A cohesive nation, yet one that truly allows freedom. Freedom to be who you are and want to be. We may critique and think things are swinging one way or the other, but the path we have taken has been amazing.

America the beautiful

Actually, since the late 1800s. However, TR and WW pushed the plunger on the poison injection.

We've been a zombie country ever since.

Leif Ericsson's settlement circa 1000 was actually in the area that is now Newfoundland. So, I guess he "found" Canada.
