What about a statue for Petit?

I have nothing against a statue for the Pistol even though the Assembly Center bears his name. I am all for the Shaq statue. It can be argued that the best player to play at LSU was Bob Petit. He led an LSU team to the Final Four. He won a NBA champiohsip and was a NBA MVP. Petit was a four time MVP of the NBA All-Star game; only Kobe can claim as many. Petit is also a gentleman and deserves such an honor from LSU.

Since we are giving statues to everyone let's go ahead and give Chris Jackson one too. Maravich is in a class of his own and you can argue it all you want but pistol > Petit

I would support a Bob Pettit statue.

Shaq is the best basketball player and by far the most loyal player in terms of support of any top player LSU has had other than Pettit. Maravich has the Assembly Center Name which is a great honor. If I build a statue to anyone it is Shaq and maybe Pettit.

This is the problem most have with statues. We give one and then have to start giving others. Pete was up for Statue discussion because he was elite, in a class of his own. He was ahead of his time and was one of the absolute best to ever play the college game, that's why he needs to have a statue.

You mean Chris " I won't Stand for the National Anthem" Jackson. No.

But first, let's ask him how he would want his name spelled.

The Shaq statue is only appropriate if Pete and Pettit are alongside.

To say that Shaq was the best LSU BB player is asinine.

The Shaq statue is appropriate because he gave a truckload of money to build the practice facility.

I am guessing you have no idea and you are just assuming this. Shaq, Pistol and Pettit are all considered NBA top 50 of all time.

Went duck hunting with Bob before, he's a good guy. We should go ahead and give him a statue

Yep. This. Never knew that. Never heard of any of those. When did Shaq play? Was he good?

My point is, how many statues are we gonna build. Have you even been to games recently is what I wanna know

Pistol Pete was the greatest college basketball player in the history of the NCAA, so of course he was the greatest at LSU

He meant they should build a petit Pettit statue.

Nothing too big, save some money.

I think we can stop after 3 of the greatest players to ever play the game .

Continue with your fallacy though.

Well I have been to countless number of basketball programs gyms and lets just say we would be one of the few to have 3 player statues outside of arena. It's cool and all but what's wrong with just retiring players numbers?

How about a Dale Brown and Rudy Macklin statue? Where does it end?

Bob Petit made the NBA First Team from 1955-1964, not the All Star Team the 5 man First Team 10 straight years. Would you give Jerry West or Oscar Robertson a statue? Because that is the company he kept, but your right we're just giving them away to anybody. The fact that you somehow mentioned Chris Jackson in the same sentence with Pettit is laughable. And for your information Pistol was a better scorer than Pettit but Pettit was a better basketball player.
