Unique Company 401k Situation

I am curious as to how "unique" this situation actually is, but my company automatically funds 10% of our yearly salary into our 401k plan (divided equally each quarter) regardless if the employee contributes anything or not. How common is this in today's world?

My last company did 5% regardless of employee contribution.

What field?
In my experience (engineering/petrochemical), it's pretty rare. First, 10% is pretty high. And almost every company I know of it's a match.
However, a lot of these companies also offer a pension/defined benefit plan. That usually requires no contribution.

Yes, that is unique. I know companies that will contribute regardless of employee contribution, but not 10%. That is crazy. Do they do any additional if you contribute any?

Nothing additional if we contribute. Just 10% regardless. Currently, I contribute an additional 5% to 401k and 3% to a Roth IRA. Hope to increase both in the near future.

My company has recently started automatically enrolling every new hire into our 401k plan at 6% so that they can receive the full match. You can opt out if you want during your on-boarding process.

My company auto enrolls everyone at 6% with 50% match up to that amount.
After year one of employment, they contribute 2% every Jan 1st regardless of your contribution.
We used to have a super solid defined benefits/pension plan. While I was pitched this as a benefit when I received my offer, my offer letter wasn't given to me until days after corporate decision makers announced they no longer offered it on an internal memo (which no one told me about till after I signed)

Mine matches 3% if you put 6%. Then based on age, 3,5 or 7% of annual salary regardless of your contribution

4% no matter what I put in
Then they will do an additional 4% if I do 6%
So therefore I put in 6% and they do 8%

Mine is similar, just not paid quarterly.
I work for an oil major.

Seriously my company went from one of the elite retirement plans that people raved about in magazines and stuff to one of the worst of people posting on here

Ours was the same as the OPs as of two years ago. We are now at 4% match plus 4% - so 8 total if you max the match.

I'd personally max out the Roth before contributing more the the 401(k) (assuming you wouldn't jump down a tax bracket). More choices and flexibility in the Roth.

That's a very solid point. I definitely need to take a look at that. Thanks

That's great, my company automatically contributes 3% with a 3% match

Mine is 2% of salary contribution no matter what.
Then they match up to 5%. I feel like it's a nice plan.
Employer total contribution/match each year is capped at $50,000. You have to make $714,286 to reach the cap.
10% contribution no matter what is pretty awesome. Is there a cap?

Emplyer matches 87% up to my 6% contribution. i'm currently putting in 11%.
They also replaced our old pension with a 4% contribution into a cash fund.
