Hay merchant and petrol station for beer.

Hearsay gastropub and tacos tierra caliente tacos while at alabama ice house. Not kidding, best tacos I've ever had.

Eta: also TQLA for Mexican. Best happy hour and one of the best brunches in the city IMO.

I'd definitely go to Hay Merchant. Good beer selection and pretty good food.

Really?

I took the SO there last Sat night because it's been on our list of places to try. Kind of spontaneous though, so we didn't have reservations. Sat at the bar and it was a great experience.

The bartenders were really enjoyable and helpful. We interacted with one more than the others, and I can't remember his name, but he had some tattoos and I think maybe a ponytail. He made a great drink that the SO said was probably her favorite drink ever. I think it was called a dreamshake.

Just wanted to give some props to y'all. Great dinner. We'll be back.

Common Bond is really, really fricking good. My girlfriend and I had a fried cauliflower sandwich, fried cauliflower obviously, arugula, roasted red pepper spread, pickled red onion, provolone. Sounds simple but so good. We also ordered a buffalo turkey and bacon sandwich...super thick slices of bacon, roasted turkey, buffalo sauce, an absolutely ridiculous aioli.

I was hoping to sample their softshell crab sandwich but they were only serving a weekend brunch menu when we went. It's apparently on the menu at lunch on the weekdays.

We took a couple pastries to go...a FANTASTIC kouing-amann, pan au chocolate, and a righteous sticky bun.

Highly recommend it.
