I just saw Ender's Game today and it was awesome imo. If you have not seen it and like sci-fi flicks you must. Well I went looking to see about a sequel and was upset they are not planning on making one at the moment.

So it got me thinking for people that saw both movies. Out of Ender's Game and John Carter which one would you rather get a sequel?

Personally I would rather John Carter get a sequel if I had to choose.

On a side note I ordered the Quintet tonight of the 4 Ender books. Even thinking about getting shadow if the next 3 measure up.

The first movie is WAY different than the first book. The book is great. The movie blows.

As for the other books, they are very different in style compared to Ender's Game. Much more cerebral.

Saw ender's game today and it sucked. If they make a sequel to that I vote to watch john carter's sequel, even though I've never seen John Carter.

John Carter was perfectly set up for a sequel and there's plenty of source material, but it seems unlikely without a reboot or possibly another studio aquiring the rights.

Well, Ender's Game does have a sequel in the book series, but there is no way it'd be made into a movie. Ever. Ever. It goes on about Ender creating his own religion and going into hiding, and all sorts of jazz, and it's mostly exposition after exposition and it does feel like it's one big set up for the next couple of books. But I think the second book is also 1000x better than Enders. I am the only one who thinks this.

Still haven't seen the movie.

And John Carter was turned off after 5 minutes at my house. Had nothing appealing to me whatsoever.

Don't base getting shadow on the other endee books. Shadow goes a totally different direction and it is a different read.

You didn't even watch long enough for him to get to Mars. John Carter had it's problems, but I wanted to see a second one. I enjoyed the concept and story. Taylor Kitsch was horrible in the lead, IMO.

John Carter, and I'm a huge fand of the Ender's Game book.

That's how much I liked the John Carter movie.

Carter.

And I am a HUGE Ender fan.

(of the books)

The movie did a horrible job of translating the essesnce of what made the book still popular instead of being published before I was born.

Also, the following books are basically unfilmable anyway.

The Shadow series could be (they are next chronologically), but never Speaker of the Dead, Xenocide, and Children of the Mind.

I'm assuming you have never read the book. I saw the movie before reading it and thought the movie was ok, but felt really rushed.

Then I read the book, and wished I could unsee the movie.

The answer is John Carter.

Ender's Game needs to either be an HBO miniseries or simply redone MUCH better.

I didn't read the book, but I felt like it was rushed. Too much for one movie.

He was at school for several years, and started there at 7. He was on the fact track, but not nearly as fast as they made it seem in the movie.

Also, there was an entire story regarding politics taking place on earth with his sister and brother which were completely left out of the movie.

Casting would be a bear, because he starts out SO young, but I could really see it being stretched out into a 10 part single season HBO type deal.

But Ender's Game is right up there with movies I sort of liked when I saw them that made me interested in reading the book, only to then hate what the movie did with the source materials. I Am Legend is the worst offender for me, though.
