Yeah that's called being a tyrant, which makes for a crappy leader. You can't just force people into submission since all it does is enslave them.
I also think she is behind the bandits raiding the Earth Kingdom territories. No way they get planes and get the drop on Kai and Opal just being bandits.
So how long before we get a guru to help unblock Korra's earth chakra (survival and fear)?

Agree with everything above except the guru part. Just too obvious of a rehash from Aang, IMO.
Just recently got into the series and binge watched all of Last Airbender and Legend of Korra. Came here and read the thread. Not sure if the question was answered by Aang died of natural causes at the age of 66.

True. Guess I need some clarification. Are you suggesting that Korra meets her own version of Guru Pathik, a literal guru?
That is what I gathered when I read your post.
IMO, Toph is acting as the guru, although not technically one, in that she seems to be mentoring Korra and helping resolve various emotional hindrances. Just not your typical guru like Pathik was.

Never thought of it this way, good point, Toph could be in that role for Korra being she is rough like Korra and more suited to aid her where as Guru Pathik was more like the air nomads and more suited for Aang.

And I can't be the only thinking/hoping we get a Korra and Mako fight vs Kuvira and Bolin. Have it start off as pretty fair, but Bolin's lavabending eventually overcomes Mako, and Kuvira senses the metal within Korra, and metalbends her. Think when Bolin sees that, he will finally start questioning Kuvira and her tactics, but Kuvira would have taken over all the Earth Kingdom at this point, including Zaofu.

I really like Bolin and would hope he wouldnt get into a physical altercation with his brother and Korra. Hard to tell what the relationships are like after a 3 year jump though. I can definitely see a Korra and Mako vs Kuvira and Baatar Jr fight though.
I think Bolin switches sides whenever he sees what Varrick is building with the "sprit bomb". He will see that the goal is no just unite the Earth Kingdom, which is his only motivation.

Nah, going with Republic City. Kuvira was pretty clear that she wants ALL of the Earth Kingdom reunited, and I'm thinking she means it from a more historical viewpoint.

Nah, the creators said they wanted the main antagonist of this season to be a girl around Korra's age instead of old guys like has been done previously.
Plus I'm still thinking that while Kuvira is not Red Lotus, she is Zaheer and P'Li's daughter that he left behind in Zaofu before unleashing his reign of terror on the world. There's more to Kuvira's relationship with Su, and I think Su tried to mentor her personally when she was a child. Kuvira is trying to clean up her parents chaos, but has become power hungry in the process.

That's assuming Zaheer has earth bending in his lineage. Was this ever mentioned or confirmed? Or are we to assume that because he got air bending he was an earth bender since that's all they mentioned as being transformed into air benders?

I think its a pretty safe assumption. All the others that we know of has Earth Kingdom lineage.

Zaheer was a non-bender before Harmonic Convergence, and the other airbenders were also non-benders before Harmonic Convergence.

It's possible she knows of it, but I don't think she was a part of it when the Red Lotus penetrated the city. I think if she does know of it, she's ashamed and trying directly to fix what her parents have done, but became power hungry in the process. I just feel sure that Korra has to face Zaheer again.

Btw, you seem to keep up with the inside scoop on this so is there any talk of continuing the Avatar story either with a new Avatar or whatnot? Or is this by chance the do all end all of the story line?

They said they're not sure, but said that their next project will not be Avatar related.

Disappointing. So by the time they finish whatever project they are on to even consider a new Avatar project, could be several years down the road.
Even though they made comic books for the events after the 100 year war, I would like to see those brought to the screen. If not that, at least something returning to the pre-industerial period.
