Different, she lost the past lives against Vatu/Unalaq vs the avatar state against Zaheer.

Glad this thread popped up last week, hadn't watched season 3, got caught up.

New episdoe out! Some surprises.

SPOILERS

So not only did Varrick grow a conscience but also a backbone. Effectively destroyed the spirt vine weapon (for the time being) and freed him and Bolin.

Part of me was hoping the battle for Zaofo was going to be similar to LOTR battle for Helm's Deep. Massive army attacking a heavily defended city and at the brink of diaster, help arrives. Korra is obviously still rusty in fighting and having mental issues in the avatar state.

Just an idea, need someone else to pick it up and hash out the details. Korra's lack of being able to connect with the past avatars is the reason she is seeing the zombie Korra. Like her avatar spirit is somehow dying (hence zombie state) due to lack of nurtiment (other avatars).

Solid episodes, but Kuvira is now certainly going to set her sights for Republic City, not only to take it over, but she also needs more spirit vines since Varrick seems to have blown them all up, and they're not going to allow her back in there willingly.

Great episode.

I really liked the fight. Especially when Korra went Avatar then was thrown off by her inner demons again.

I liked that she tried everything she possibly could and resorted to fighting last.

I liked that the Avatar state was more dramatic with Aang in the original series. It was always accompanied with dramatic music. This time it just sort of... happened.

Korra is afraid of the Avatar State in a different way than Aang was though. Aang always went into a murderous violent rage, and almost killed some people (certainly did when the Ocean Spirit took over him). It was supposed to be epic and horrifying, especially to a pacifist monk.

Korra's is more tragic and tramatic for her than it was ever for Aang. So the show is capitalizing on that as well. No need for epic music, aside from the Zaheer fight.

Korra ' s character transformation over the series has been the complete opposite of Aang's.

She was fearful of the dark korra at first and now she can't finish it off. Apparently there are a lot of things going on in her head for her to be so conflicted. I don't think she understands what to do in these conflicts anymore because Amon wanted equality with no bending, Unaloq wanted to rule as a dark avatar, Zahir wanted anarchy with no rulers or borders, and now Kuvira wants to rule with an iron fist using Nazi-like tactics with propaganda and selecting her words and actions wisely to manipulate people to follow her. I feel korra is lost as to what's right and doesn't understand how she has any impact whenever she stops a threat and they just keep appearing.

Kuvira will definitely push into republic city claiming that it is an earth kingdom territory and all the nation's will stand up to her just as they did against the fire nation. Hoping we get to see Zuko's daughter in action along with some more Tenzen. I have a feeling Toph will show up because all the racket will disturb her peace and quiet.

Well, Team Avatar is back (minus Bolin) and arguing like crazy.

Looks like Kuvira is trying to get her hands on Wu to make an example out of him. Varrick is becoming more independent, think he's starting to slowly realize that he had feelings for Zhu li. I see them getting together after she turns on Kuvira.

So it looks like Bolin is starting to lose his innocence in the world as this story progresses and wants to make up for what he was a part of.

Toph is going to have to enter the battle with Kuvira's army now that they are destroying the giant tree in the swamp. No way she sits idle for that. Adding the fact that Kuvira is rounding up fire and water benders should bring the fire nation and water nation into the final confrontation for sure. I am eager to see how things are going to pan out with this super weapon they are designing.

Spot on take on the episode.

I hadnt thought of this angle. That should definitely bring the other nations into the picture.

Toph is definitely fixing to raise some cane on some unexpecting Earth Empire soldiers.

Yeah, that's what I meant by "rounding them up".

It's definitely very Hitler-esque what is going on. Now she is trying to get a super weapon to take complete control.

I am wondering if Korra is going to find a way to deal with the vines since their power is so great and can be harnessed for evil.

I do believe that we will see an epic Azula type meltdown from Kuvira when she is finally toppled.

Speaking of. That episode was on Nick the other day. That battle between Azula and Zuko is my favorite bending fight scene.

Main things I got from the episode

1. Bolin is becoming total badass, he is going to bring down the "reeducation" camps down by himself
2. Kuvira has gone full Hitler with the genocide of non Earth benders is the Earth Kingdom
3. Reeducation camps are the concentration camps from the Holocaust.
4. Toph is about to wreck some serious shite in the next episode.
5. Korrasami just reached new heights on the interwebs

Still waiting for shite to hit the fan, and I wish this season was longer so Mike and Brian can get shite done.

Well we're halfway done with the final season folks, hope it goes out with a bang

Well, that was easily the worst episode of the franchise yet. It was a complete waste of time, and the only thing slightly humorous about it was Varrick. Nothing happened in it. I'll forgive it though, since I suspect the reason they did it was because they were contractually obligated to make a certain amount of episodes, and that they could only get a certain budget, so they let one episode go straight to hell in order for the finale to be incredibly epic and have even higher production values than the finale of The Last Airbender. It better be awesome to put forth such a crappy and lazy episode like that.

Well, here's the explanation for it, and what happened was Nick cut the budget by roughly one episode, and still expected the same number of episodes in return. So they either had to fire a bunch of people, or make a clips episode. They knew they couldn't do much with it, so Mike and Bryan pretty much told the fans to skip this episode in future rewatches and pretend this season was only 12 episodes instead of 13. So it's forgivable on the creators part, but this episode is more a middle finger from Nick once more to the franchise. God I hope Netflix somehow gets the righs to the franchise and get it out of these assholes hands.

Definitely was a waste of time. Thanks for the explanation OM.
I feel bad for Brian and Michael. To have such an awesome franchise and be disrespected. So much potential.

Assuming someone like Netflix picks up the franchise, what story do yall think should be told next?
Kyoshi? Roku? Aang after the 100 year war? Some distant past Avatar? Or even a distant future Avatar? Im hoping they go back to the pre-industrial period personally.

It's amazing how badly Nick shits on the franchise. Sure it doesn't make money like some other shows. But it is by far Nick's best franchise by a long shot.

If Mike and Bryan do make another series I hope Netflix picks them up

I say complete the cycle. Before this season, I was thinking nuclear weaponry and conflict with nature would be the way to go, but seems as if Kuvira is more than doing that. I'd say make the next Avatar in the modern world, maybe make him an Avatar that likes the privileges of being the Avatar, but not its responsibilities, and runs from them the moment the world goes to hell. As for the Fire Avatar, obviously Cyberpunk would be the way to go, with maybe a Khan like antagonist who's a hyper intelligence and wishes to wipe out humanity as a whole.

Regardless I want the next chapter to have legitimate guns. They've got canons, flame throwers, and lightning zappers, so it's kind of staggering that at least someone wouldn't have invented a gun by this point in the universe.
