I understand we have a new QB and all new skill position players, but this OLine may the best we have ever seen. And I think we lose them all to the '15 draft. Not to mention both our starting DEs too. I know most of you think we are gearing up for a NC run in '15, but we can't do it with 5 new starters on the OL. It sucks and I wish it would all work out together, but I think we have a better shot in '14 than'15 or '16. Despite the new QB.

I think our D keeps us in every game this year, at least.

crazier things have happened, like Auburn's run last year.

This season's offense will tell us almost everything about CCC and Coach Grimes. They are coming to LSU exactly when we need them to step up the Offense. As for the future, it's bright even if the OT's might be questionable.

DBU will be back and that counts for alot.

Not only that, but A&M and Bama are definitely down this year compared to the recent past. Auburn is the favorite in the West and LSU handled them easily last year. The time is now.

I'm in. We have the talent to make it happen. I think we have a high end defense, and we will most definitely have a running game that will be beastly. If it can open our pass game some and our guys can get on track, watch out! We may be in for another wild ride. If you can make the NCG with JJ and J LEE you can do it with this team IMO

I am not quite that pessimistic. LSU has some really talented young OL waiting. Most,if not all of them will be 3rd year players. The exceptions are Clapp and Brumfield and they will have been in the system a year. All except those 2 plus Demond will have been receiving the new emphasis on technique by Grimes being assisted by Miles almost full time on the practice field. Miles is a really good OL coach and with Cameron and Grimes in place can spend more time at as he did this spring.

I look to see our OL develop much faster with the new coaching scenario and we get much better performance.

Talent matters in the OL, of course. And we should continue to have plenty. But so do starts. And starts together.

this sounds like a lot of the people thinking the baseball team should have made it to the CWS this year. fact is, it's really difficult to replace what we lost
Mettenberger - replace with a true freshman or a sophomore with 1 1/4 game experience and that one game inspired very little confidence

Landry/Beckham/Wright - our returning receivers (one) had 7 catches last year, so we're relying on a bunch of guys we hope are as good as advertised but have no experience whatsoever

Hill/Blue - we should be alright with Magee, Hilliard, and Fournette, but I think people are going to realize how much we miss Hill. Fournette may be a great back, but I wouldn't expect him to perform like Hill did last year or anywhere close to it.

The one positive thing we have to look forward to is, yes, we do have a great line coming back, and our young defense gained valuable experience last year and should be much better.

However, those two things are just going to keep us in games and allow us to be pretty good. Maybe, I'm just being a skeptic, but I really don't see this team winning more than 9-10 games with what we lost. And I don't think there'd be anything wrong with those results given how young we are at every single skill position.

Take a deep breath.

We're replacing outstanding QB, RB, and WRs. Our D was only ok last year (below average at DT, and we're replacing both of those).

We may have a great OL, but defenses will stack the box and make us throw.

Plus, we have a lot of tough games:
Wisconsin
Auburn
Florida
Ole Miss
Bama
Arkansas (trap game on the road the week after Bama)
A&M

If you see more than 9 wins this year, you're dreaming.

Calm down. Just because Trai left doesn't mean everybody with 3rd round draft grades will jump ship. Hawk stays to move to LT (would benefit the hell out of him), Vadal becomes the #1 OG in 2016 draft and a first round pick. We just got an LT who played JUCO and is immediately eligible this year. We slide him over to RT next year. Pocic, who has played a good bit and will play a good bit more this year, will slide in to center.

We should have two guys who combine total 60 starts, a JUCO who has played at the college level and then played back up this year, and Pocic 2 Ho has backed up several positions for two years straight. We should be good for 2016.
