I got deer on the brain. 4400 acres of south central Kansas plains.

Have walked to a few draws that were within 200 yards of the gravel road and jumped 5 deer. One buck and he no doubt would be a good one this year by my standards.

Had to tell someone about it. I'm about to jizz my pants out here. Had to stop an drink a ML just to calm my nervs.

About to drive to a section of wheat land and check out a tree line that runs through it.

Tl:dr- I'm a deer hunting nerd a subtle brag thread

Meh it's too hot to be sitting in a tree. I'd rather be fishing on some water.

I agree. We make a trip to Illinois every year and it has definitely ruined me hunting down here

Went bow hunting two years in a row in western Kansas. It's like a video. The shite you see up there just blows your mind. In two years hunting up there I saw bucks fighting, scraping, rubbing and mating. I've never seen any of that happen down here. I don't hunt in any high dollar places... Fwiw.

Rattling and snort grunt weezes and bleats, those things actually work. Well. I've never had any luck with that stuff down here. Up there, they dig it. Last trip we went on I bleated a 10 point to within 10 yards of me on the ground. It's amazing.

Makes it hard to go sit in those Mississippi hills and not see a damn thing. That's for sure. It's given me a new appreciation for LA fishing.

I did something similar in del rio a couple years ago. Saw more racked bucks in 2 days than I have in my entire life hunting public land in LA. Saw bucks fighting, lots of deer playing around with each other, the whole 9 yards. Wound up passing on a nice 110" 10pt tho because my bro only had 2 buck tags for the whole season and I didn't want to shoot something that wasn't a monster. Different kind of hunting out there. Felt like cheating it was so easy.
