4 finals mvps. Historic players on both sides.. History at stake for both sides. .. Save your 80s nostalgia cause the nba is better than ever and this is the best finals matchup ever, and what happened last year to the spurs adds even more intrigue

It could be the greatest finals of all time, but that depends on whether Pop tries any of his cheap cheating tactics.

People tend to underrate how good Duncan is, and even more criminally underrate james, whose consistency and greatness is just taken for granted. Duncan and James are 2 of the 8-10 greatest ballers ever.

They were boring when they grinded down teams with bowen/duncan in their defensive primes, for some reason people are stuck in 2001-2008 when calling the spurs boring

They're 3rd in the league in points per game. More than teams like the Warriors and Thunder.

There's no lack of offense.

Not that offense is the end all, be all to excitement, but not sure how they could be considered boring.

Been watching since 1983...and Dr. J.

I want to say the best NBA Finals was 1985 because the Lakers won.

But that would be a lie.

The best NBA Finals of all-time (and locked in stone...locked in stone!) Is 1984 Magic vs. Bird...and how that series defined a culture and the nation.

Lakers rolled out to a huge lead on flash and L.A. bravado and cool...so the stories told you.

They raced out to a lead based on athleticism.

And Celtics came back on thuggery and old school and "white boy" basketball...can't hang with the speed of the brothers...take them out.

It was a serious debate back then...that the Celtics were trying to equal themselves in the series by tackling the players who were physically superior...it was old Kentucky, foul ball.

Divided the Nation.

There will never be a series like that.

All the old Boston racists came out...you can still catch crazy youtube clips of some of these clowns.

It was white vs. black, East Coast vs. West Coast, speed vs. thugs, style vs. intimidation...athleticism vs. tackling.

I firmly believe if this series is played today, the Lakers win going away.

But this was 1984...there was a prohibition on "flash" and "speed" by the refs - which always had that racist connotation.

Refs allowed the Celts back into the series by suddenly swallowing their whistles to stop the crazy LA speed, athleticism and fast breaks...black guy was winning easily...

Uh-oh, how do we stop this- NBA says?

They made it the most significant NBA series of all-time - because it changed everything...and people realized racist attitudes from the NBA front office and public needed to stop.

I don't think there is enough hype behind the game for it to be considered the best.

This doesn't feel like Pacquiao vs. Mayweather... it feels like another regular title fight.
