What your problem is with the new Star Trek films?

I actually really like them, but I've seen some passing comments on the board of people not liking them.
What gives?

I enjoy them. I had zero Star Trek experience beforehand though.

I really enjoy them. Kirk is a dumb arse in the second one, but he grows up a lot in the film.

They're are damn good. No problem with them. Definitely better than some of the older Star Trek movies.

Action isn't anti-Star Trek, but has there been enough of Roddenberry's vision in the movies? I like the movies a lot, but where is the exploration? Traditionally, Star Trek is about exploration of the universe and of the human condition.
The Wrath of Khan's spaceship standoff was great, but what brought it to the next level is the idea of sacrifice for one's fellow man, and how that is an important concept for humanity/the Federation.
I liked that the last movie was about Kirk's personal growth, but what about the growth and progress of the whole? That is the bigger idea behind the best of Star Trek.

Yes but ST 1? C'mon coco. No one has loved the old shows as much as me but the movies were lacking. Search for Spock?
Wrath of Khan holds up well but the others are a lot of meh.

I've really dug them. Casting, script, effects, music have all been good IMO. The only exception being Spock & Uhura's way too precious relationship in Darkness. Vulcans don't "lol miss you more."

I think Ace Midnight is the only person on the planet who flat hates them

Star Trek has always been about philosophical and social concepts. Exploring the galaxy that is filled with a level of diversity that is incomprehensible to people. The show was always about ensuring peace and prosperity for all life forms and doing what was necessary to maintain a moral humanity. Also what can we learn from different scenarios and how can we become better people?
Pretty much, Star Trek is Full House with a sci fi setting and better characters.
The new movies had nothing to do with Star Trek. It was a blockbuster Michael Bay-esque movie that stole Star Trek names, uniforms, and ship concepts.
