Crossbow recommendations for dropping a deer at close range (inside 30 yds)? I know the placement is key, but can't afford to have a deer running around the neighborhood with an arrow sticking out its neck. The bow needs to pack a punch.

Gun shot would alarm the neighbors, but well played.

The Home Owners Association is not going to approve of this.

This should do it.

In college I had deer around my apartment. Same scenario, didn't want them running too much. Would feed them outside my window and shoot from upstairs. Shot 4 or 5 over a 2 yr span, always waited until they were facing me and shoot between shoulder blades in spine. I quit because the last one bellowed so so so damn loud all the neighbors came out to see what the noise was. They never ran, but it was an all or nothing angle.

this needs to occur more often in several areas across the country

there are neighborhoods that some of my family lives in in north San Antonio that have hundreds of deer wandering around all the time causing accidents and shite

even Time magazine of all media outlets did a report on how conservation has gone too far

why not let us harvest some of these pests

Same with Kingwood. We have a pretty healthy population of deer (and hogs). The deer have not really got out of hand yet and only a few get clipped by cars, mostly during the rut when bucks are chasing does. They are pretty nocturnal and with the area being heavily wooded, they don't trek into subdivisions much to eat unlike the hogs, which root in all the high dollar yards. For that reason, most home owners would give zero fricks if they saw you coming out of the woods with a pig. They will call Greenjeans in a heartbeat if they think you are trying to stick Bambi though.

clearly we need to move the deer crossings to prevent these incidents

I have the same interest. Where I live, we have large sections of common property where bow hunting is permitted. Some of these sections are easily 10-30 acres. My biggest worry, if I start hunting these, is that a deer will run off after my shot and end up dying in some kids jungle gym.

I'm thinking of using the topography to my advantage. Placing my stand and taking my shot such that, if a deer were to run, the closest track toward the nearest house would require climbing a 60+ degree hill.
