Thought some of you may be interested. He's from my hometown and a long time friend so I've been keeping up. He's at the Settindown course sectional in Atlanta. Plays 36 holes today. It's 31 amateurs playing for 2 spots.

He's currently 4 strokes ahead of the 2nd place spot and on his 24th hole.

ETA: QUALIFIED.

Thanks for the info. For what it's worth, the qualifier has 31 players total, consisting of both pros and amateurs and not just amateurs.

Thanks.

I did see the Memphis sectional is nearly half PGA golfers, including David Toms who shot a -5 66 after round 1.

He finished at -2. Which, as of now is good for 2nd place and a qualifying spot. There is one guy from Auburn that has 2 to play and is currently -1.

David Toms is leading with 2 holes to go. Looks good for him to get to Pinehurst as well. Needs Top 13.

Loupe and Peterson are both in a T76th. Not looking good for them

Memphis qualifier question: top 13 advance to US Open? If so, Why so many spots vs other qualifiers?

One of the hardest qualifying a to do besides q school. Very great accomplishment. Is he playing as a pro?

The Usga really does a great job in the qualifying aspects. Pga should take note.

What is wrong with how the PGA handles qualifying? I don't have any knowledge of how they handle it so just curious. TIA
