D-Day photos - now vs. then... (album)

These images present a clever look at the events that happened at these historic places. Photos from the exact same spots - then and now - merged and digitally aligned to show a dramatic perspective. Wonder how many tourists have been to these places with only vague ideas of what actually took place on the very ground they were standing on - 70 years ago. LINK

By the way there is an excellent presentation on D-Day at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. I highly recommend it.

Headed to the museum this weekend. Thanks for the heads up.

For real. Is a toggle option that hard to design?

These are pretty cool too. They are of the European theater and not just D-day.

Can you not toggle between the overlay old photo and the current photo?

I saw something similar to this last week. I think it was WWI and WWII landmark spots and pics of them now. In a lot of the places, it was gorgeous green grassy fields, but you could still see the craters from all the mortars and shite like that. It was really cool.

That is cool but really frustrating to view for me.
My mind can't put the two together and they just look collage-like. Wish they had both then and now available to view separately.
Thanks for sharing though

Was a great DDay show on pbs last week. I recommend it.
Interesting portion which covered the man who invented the Higgins boat who, as I'm sure most of you already knew, was from New Orleans. Sounded like a helluva business man and boat builder!

Pretty cool. I went to Normandy 2 years ago and it's pretty much the same now as it was then.
Great place to visit.

those are way better. so many people keep making these pictures by just pasting the old one onto the new one and it looks like crap
