Rewatched First Class today and loved it. Planning on seeing DOFP tomorrow afternoon. Seeing a 90s RT score has me pumped, does it live up to expectations?

Forget all of the X-Men movies other than X2 and First Class. If you do this it will make it easier. Great movie!

It's fantastic. It's probably the best superhero movie since.... well First Class. Don't miss it.

X2
Yeah, I remember when I saw the first one i thought it was OK. I wasn't really psyched to see the second one. I was 17 working at a movie theater when X2 came out. I walked in at the beginning of a showing while I was working. I saw the nightcrawler scene and was absolutely blown away. I watched it after my shift was over and thought it was the best superhero movie I had ever seen. It still holds up as greatness today.

It was easily the best XMen film and possibly the best superhero film I have ever seen.

Just saw it. A very good flick, but it left a fricking lot of questions lingering...and not in the cliffhanger way.

Solid. A bit slow at times. Second best movie of the summer so far.

Better than Avengers. No forced humor, much better acting.

The Avengers was entertaining, but it's not high art by any means. It's just a film that knows how to keep you entertained, and that's it. There's no real heart or soul to it, which I hope the sequel has and what I think disqualifies it from being in the conversation with this movie.

Winter Soldier is a different beast. The film clearly has heart, the characters have arcs (The Avengers didn't really have either), and it clearly has better action than X-Men (I think it's the best action film since Mission Impossible 4). But really, I identify with the characters in X-Men a bit more and it was more character focused. To be as spoiler free as possible, the end of the movie clearly wasn't about the action, but our characters having a showdown with their ideologies. That appeals to me a bit more than Winter Soldier did, but Winter Soldier is still simply fantastic.

Between these two films, I think it's apples and oranges, and can see an argument why it may be better.

well, that's like your opinion. I definitely preferred DOFP over the Avengers and it's on par with the Winter Soldier.
