I thought it was an excellent movie. The acting was great and the plot was very enjoyable.

I wrote this about it last week.
quote:
Hugh Jackman stole the show. As a father of young children I can tell you, I was on his side. He did what most of us as fathers would want to do, but would not have the balls to do. His emotion for his daughter was strongly felt, and I kept thinking, "Holy shite, it's Wolverine trying to find his daughter."
Gyllenhaal was good also. I felt like the little ticks he had helped show that in his past he was very withdrawn and not very social. Which could have made him a good detective.
I felt like other parts of the cast did well also. Jackman's wife in the movie played a great mother in delusion and despair. The parents of the other child were great as well. In particular Howard, who played a father scared to go as far as Jackman, but wanted the strength to do so.
For me, I enjoyed the movie for the ensemble acting that was displayed. True emotions were felt, and particularly in the beginning, fear set in leading me to the reality of myself losing a child.
However, with the way it played out in the end, I didn't feel that it lived up to the setup in the beginning.
Acting and Dialog: 4.75/5
Story: 2.5/5
Overall: 3.75/5

I think Jake stole the show, tbh. His ticks were an awesome touch.
What I really liked about Jackman's performance is what you pointed out: I kept on asking myself if I would have the balls to do what he did.
Thank you for copying and pasting your review!

Love it.
Stressed me the heck out but for me, when a movie grabs hold of you emotionally like that, that's a good movie.
I let my sister borrow my dvd of it and it took her forever to fall asleep after watching it. (having kids of her own) No pics, so don't ask. Of the kids or her.
You can't figure it out. Once you think you got it, nope, something else happens and you're saying to yourself, "wait, what? Hang on a min....." and you have to think about it.
Great movie.

I thought American Hustle was overrated too.

Does Jake find him!?
While they don't say that the father is found, it's pretty obvious he is imo. Detective Loki was a great detective, they go as far as to say he's solved every case. Now he's looking for the father. In the hospital, Jackman's wife mentions to Loki that her daughter claimed she found the whistle before she was taken. It's logical to think that Loki could connect the dots between the faint whistle sound he thinks he hears and the fact that the kidnapped girl had a whistle when taken.

I'm inclined to think he is found. Whenever someone else is found alive in the movie the scene cuts away right before they are found.
