What are the most immediate and noticeable differences, in your eyes, between pre-Katrina New Orleans and present-day New Orleans? Which version do you prefer?

I know this was discussed ad nauseam in the years following the storm, but New Orleans has even morphed into quite a different city than its 2009 self.

You're less likely to get shot. The odds are still high but not as much

There is an awful lot of excitement and optimism right now. It seems like once a week there is news of a new tech company moving to the New Orleans area.
Additionally you have things like all of the movies being filmed here, the tourism numbers hitting highs, and the oil and gas boom...
New Orleans is actually tied for the top brain gain city in the country, and young professionals are flocking to the city, regentrifying lots of areas of the city...
The housing market reflects this... Housing is getting a little absurd in the city.

So what? The bluebloods have less influence than ever before. And this is a great thing.
