What's driving this? Is it reaction to all the EPL debt hitting the balance sheet with nothing to show for it yet? That transaction closed June 3 so it makes them look over-levered.

Overreaction to earnings is my guess, but who knows? What I heard in the call was significantly increased revenue next year. I think everyone else stopped listening after they reported the loss.

It's brutal. I got in at $15.90. I've not seen the market hate a stock as much as the hatred shown here since their acquisition. I had though at one time this was a Cramer pick. Not that he's the ultimate picker or anything, but usually he has a following.

i don't think the market liked the resignation, nor the ridiculous increase in expenses. The increases were mainly a result of EPL which is being retained until late in the 4th quarter. After that they will cut all those expenses. so you got another quarter and a half. I'd say mid next year OTM calls might be a viable play.

From SA. FWIW I've held this and averaged down becuase I agree with Mr. Tabak referenced below.

Energy XXI (EXXI -18.7%) discloses the resignation of COO Benjamin Marchive and the appointment of John Schiller as its President, adding to current responsibilities as Chairman and CEO.
Shares have been battered all day after reporting a FQ4 GAAP loss of $0.06/share.
EXXI still has one defender, as Miller Tabak came out positive on the shares, which the firm sees as a takeover candidate worth $35/share.

I use to keep up with this and there other SHDG projects pretty well. McMoran put all their eggs into it and it sunk them. All of those projects have very limited chances of ever paying off imo and swallowing a ton of resources and funds.

I'm buying more. About a 3.2% yield and trading below book and tangible value.

The Highlander well is suppose to be tested this month or next. Hopefully we get some good news or the Ultra Deep plays will be in trouble.
