The 25 on Capital Heights thread got me thinking about all of the dumbass low speed limits we have around BR.

30 on Bluebonnet between Burbank and Nicholson.

45 on connection ramps between Bluebonnet and Siegen.

50 on I-110 by Governor's Mansion.

What else?

When did Burbank go to 45 mph? Noticed it by new Walmart the other day and wondered if just for construction but the signs looked permanent.

Should be lower IMO. That curve is horrendous.

I was gonna say the same thing. That turn is deadly.

60 on I-12.
And:

Have you ever tried to go that slow? It's painful. You're basically idling.

I agree with that section of Bluebonnet being too low--that's just ridiculous.

But judging by how many wrecks there are on I-110 at the Governor's mansion, 50 there is justified, IMO.

I have to set my cruise control going down that section of Bluebonnet.

Whoever allowed all of those residential driveways to have direct connections to Bluebonnet is a fricking moron. A 30mph speed limit on a 4-lane, divided highway is absolutely laughable.

Bar none, the worst speed limit I've seen is on the Bluebonnet extension from Burbank to Nicholson. 30 MPH is beyond absurd on a very long four way stretch of road in the middle of nowhere with two subdivisions on either side. Get flipping serious.

It's really not. It's not a "horrendous" curve by any means. 60 would suit it just fine IMO. But I get why the SL is lower there though.

Agreed, which is why 35 mph on Staring is gonna suck now that they've opened that new construction up. And cops are already having a field day with it...I saw one pulling people over the first week it was opened. Even Essen Lane, with all its driveways and businesses and lights and shite, is 45 mph.

You can thank our wonderful politicians for putting pressure on the road and traffic engineers for that (and all similar traffic issues). The developers go to them and then they squeeeeeeel like a pig til they get what they want.

Which reminds me--has anyone noticed any new speed limit signs up on Staring since it fully opened? Not sure what it's supposed to be there. It's so easy to drive 45 on it now, but I know there are sometimes cops sitting in one of the church parking lots.

ETA: nevermind, I see Cocomo's post.

I find myself going 50 there all the time without thinking about it. Gonna be bad. Wish it was higher.

Agreed.

I intentionally keep it set on 50 or 55 for that stretch and have people blowing around me because the cops LOVE to camp out in that little wooded area close to the Exxon plant.
